A chance find, I had to have it. Its the oldest survivor that I know of. Its the 29th built, and that was back in January 1983. Its going to be a major project, but well worth it. Here she is... Doesn't look too bad from a distance, meaning I can retain the not perfect but original paint and stripes. It will be needing a a fair bit of work. Now I need to clear some space in the garage to fit it in

Ive not really done anything to the Colt yet, apart from drive it around the farm most weekends. Done 80 odd miles in it now. I have collected lots of parts for it but its not allowed to jump in front of other projects. i have recently acquired a lovely SWB diesel with mint interior. The outside is straight and tidy enough to be presentable but still usable. A deal was done and an exchange took place including my grey over silver SWB as my friend wanted that as a garage queen.

Blimey, you are Mister Bishi! How many Mitsubishis have you got?
I've got a Hannibal tent too - pretty heavy duty til the wind gets up - lying there listening to the plastic clips that hold the fly sheet pinging off one by one and wondering if the whole thing's going to take flight.

The flysheet lasted 2 nights, then I took it off for good. I prefer it that way andit makes it much easier to fold up and get the cover in. I only have 5 Mitsubishi at the moment.

That is great...!!!
I have a bit of a secret soft spot for the boxy Shogun ever since my family had one as a hire car (for the day!) in Cyprus on my first holiday abroad in 1989.
This really is a find so I cannot wait to see how this progresses.
Brilliant!

Quite a while back now, I bought a Canvas top one. These are quite rare, as in, I know of 1 Pajero import which is on eby now, which has a full canvas roof and rear seat. The only other I know is a hill rally/comp safari racer which Bruce Tigwell has owned and raced from new (1984)and is still in good health. As you can see, it was pretty much derelict. It wouldn't boost up, I drove it 200 miles home at 40 odd mph. In January. After lots of mechanical work and some tidying I tried to make a new rear screen/back of cab canvas. It has evolved more since this photo, it fits well, and its warm and dry. I have made it separate from the tonnoeu cover for more versatility. A very weird set of events led me to finding out about a UK company that made hardtops for these back in the 80's. I thought I would save a search on eby just incase one came up. Low and behold, one had just been listed!!!

The canvas top is currently waiting for the new engine to be fitted (its the next job on the fleet list) Also, I have tracked down a couple of proper Mitsubishi PTO winch's so will be fitting one after the engine is in.
