Hey all.
Just wondering if anyone has first hand experience of the process to buy wheels from Japan, I've found a set i want, can't read Japanese, can't bid on them and don't know how to get them to my front door!
Is there a service that you've used to do all the hard work? Do people have contacts in Japan that do this for you?
What would the expected cost be around? These have tires, probably make it more awkward, but probably harder to get them removed lol (also would assume some protection to the wheels at a guess!)
I've been hurting my head for two days now trying to find an easy solution to my dilemma!
Thanks all! Chris

I've imported a couple of sets of wheels. I use a middle man/company (like From Japan), but prepare to pay a lot. Depends on what shipping method you choose obviously, but i always use 'auction price * 3' as a rule of thumb when it has landed after import duties etc. etc. If you still think it's worth it after that: go for it. I don't think you can ship wheels with tires around the world, so to avoid that i always bid on wheels without My last set of wheels was a set of 15x6,5 (and 1 15x7) for 27.000 Yen, in the end i paid another 20.000 on top of that for service fees, inland shipping and surface mail to the Netherlands. After that where import duties. Which made this quite an expensive set of wheels, but i wanted them for a looong time, so i went with it.

I use importmonster.com as a middleman - they have an English version of Japanese yahoo auction, items get shipped to their Japanese warehouse and then they send them to you.
Obviously they charge a fee and shipping to U.K. and then you'll have to pay customs when they arrive and a 3rd party handling company if they come via boat so it does all add up.

Yahoo Japan, I bought my RE Amemiyas for £155 inc shipping to (ebuyer in this case) then paid £300 for shipping the wheels in pairs.... and alas paid shipping duty on one pair. Total cos £500 or so. If you can find a intermediate company that will ship via container then shipping will be muuuuch cheaper.
Also on a side note. When I had to pay the import tax (or whatever it was) why the curse word did I have to pay it on the shipping cost as well?? Surely this is wrong? As I should pay 20% of the goods value not 20% of goods+ shipping??

Hey all, Thanks for the ideas...... Jesse has indeed won, so far he seems great, very quick on the communication, I could press go on it all now but waiting to see if the wheels Ive found get relisted tomorrow a little cheaper.
Makes me want to buy more things but the bank balance is already severely damaged before buying the initial set lol.
