I was at the Brecon and Radnor show at the Brecon Beacons visitors centre yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised by the variety of metal there. This gave me an idea for a thread. The rules are simple post a picture of a car that you were pleasantly surprised to see at a show. It must be 1. Your own photo 2. No naming what the car is lets see if people can guess. Here's what surprised me yesterday. One I knew of the other I had to look up when I got home as i'd never even heard of them let alone seen one.

I believe the first one is an Aussie Austin Kimberley? Or possible South African in origin, my brain is tired. Second is a Gilbern Genie 1800GT, powered by MGB running gear. Also has Austin A40 Farina rear lights as I recall, a useless anorak fact!

I, like yourself, haven't ever seen the first car. The second ISN'T a Genie, but it is a Gilbern, the first one they made - the GT. Engines used in the GT were; BMC 948cc A series with supercharger option or B series 1500cc. MGA 1600cc or MGB 1800cc. Coventry Climax 1098cc.

Haha, I was thinking that..... Wrong. The only time when you should use you're is when the sentence could still make sense if it was substituted with you are. The apostrophe used is that of contractions and signifies missing letters. In this case to write You're own photowould be the same as writing you are own photo which does not make sense.

I was consoling a weeping grammar Nazi yesterday, I patted his back and said "They're their there".

Although this could have been cleared up a lot easier had it been pointed out the error was in the title. My apologies the error shall be corrected with all due haste.

The last one's a 1960 DeSoto (probably an Adventurer), haven't a clue about the others.

The Orange car is a Razor. It was a kit car that should have sold like hot cakes to the three wheel lovers. The demo had a Hyabusa (IIRC) bike engine and back wheel assembly

Can I have a go as reward for getting one half-right? This is an easy one, but it sure surprised the hell out of me!

It seemed to attract as much interest as any other car that turned up. A sort of back to front modern day Bond Bug on steroids.

Stanley Steam Car.
One day I will own one and when I do it's going to the gathering.
As others has have now correctly identified mine were
Austin Kimberley and Gilbern GT the latter of which was built fairly close to the show it was spotted at.
