This will be my project thread for my newly purchased Clio-patra! I currently have a provisional license but hope to pass my test by the end of this year. I have chosen a auto for several reasons, but I wont bore you to death with them.
We swapped a Focus for it (it had no mot and we didn't have the time or interest for it), it's had 3 previous owners and not even done 100k! It has a couple of MOT advisories for October, but nothing my husband and his best mate whos a mechanic can't fix. I have to wait until after our holiday mid June to insure it (no point in insuring it if it's going to be sat there for a few weeks!) and then hit the road!
It needs a few things doing to it but nothing major.
Got all the service parts (including 2 front indicators, dizzy cap, rotor arm etc) for just short of £90.
It's nothing special but it is my first car that I can call my own and do what I like to it :-)
Not sure what plans are atm, apart from a set of alloys, it's just tiding it up. Any (sensible!) ideas are welcome!

You could saw the roof off, glue a big spoiler on the back, paint it a violent shade of fluorescent green, put tractor wheels on it and chuck a V12 27litre Merlin Aero engine in it. Well you didn't say sensible suggestions! (Although there are probably a couple of members thinking "Genius".)

That looks a very tidy example for a 22 year old car. Don't know much about them, but the spec seems pretty good with the sunroof, full dash instrumentation, front fogs, tinted glass and so on. Like you say, I reckon tidy any bits up that need doing and maybe add a set of period OE alloys? Then enjoy! Good luck with it.

I ran one of these ( in to the ground) exactly same as yours a good few years ago it was wicked it was pretty quick I redrilled the strut bottoms so it had some mean camber it cornered like it was on rails it was like a go cart I had the seats out and replaced them with recaro's from an escort lol It ended up with a real bad water leak that I never really fixed properly just kept topping it up I drove it in to scrap yard on fire lol Great car good times have fun

Welcome to the forum! :-) looks a tidy little clio. I had one of these for my first car, tho the manual and facelifted one, I actually passed my test in it!(no pas on mine, but I think the auto has a few 'extras'? :-P) definitely some period alloys, tho rims look ok that are on it? Perhaps lower it? I say this as they have a bit of Body roll and low grip in wet (esp if you drive it like a teenager.. yep I binned mine)

That looks like a very clean example. I vote for lowerage and 15" steels off a later model Clio with small tyres and 15" Renault wheel trims!

Thank you all.
I was in a bidding war for some 15" clover leaf alloys which I very annoyingly lost out to!
One of the advisories was it is starting to rust underneath the rear. It's only just starting to go so will get that sorted before it develops into something worse. Other than that, not a spec of rust in sight! The sun roof is leak free. I washed it this morning with a pressure washer so pretty confident it's good lol.
I was very surprised when I saw it, that it had electric front windows, electric mirrors and a audio stalk! Must have been a high spec at the time.
Pretty sure it's a 75-80bhp but I could be wrong. Keep getting conflicting answers! One site says 75, another says 78 and another says 80...

Not done much to it yet. Went to the scrap yard couple weeks ago and got a new sunroof handle and parcel-shelf. Hubby reattached front fog and I've got a replacement rear light as the other is cracked. That's all for now...

Welcome to the Clio club, make sure the cambelt has been done, if not replace the waterpump when you doit. They are prone to leaking waterpumps but otherwise the engines are good. The autobox plays a tune not the quietest thing but they actually quiet good on the motorway even though they are only 3 speed. Good luck with it

Progress has been.......slow. In fact, so slow, it's stopped. I start college in Sept and all my Clio money has gone on paying the course! But hoping to start up again soon. Hopefully going to get some bits off a breaking one next weekend. Thanks for the tip 120y. I'm planning on having everything changed so at least I know when it was done and start keeping a history of it
