After reading this and posting it got me thinking I'm now bidding on volvo 850r telling myself it will make a great daily driver for the wife instead of her bora , just need to convince her lol

My need for a load lugger to do many miles started with a Mk4 Escort Estate (with an ST170 on ITBs doing just under 200bhp)  Then when I realised this was both far too jaily for everyday use, and the exploding gearboxes and rotting shell got tiresome I went with an 850 T5 manual with a 250/300 remap.  Then when I grew to hate the T5's clunky manual box and wanted more space, a 3.0 auto 960 was next.  The 960 was superb, but sub 20mpg, and the lowering was a hideously complicated task with the weird rear suspension meant I went back to an 850. This time an auto TDi. What I should have had all along. A few tweaks makes them look ace, economical, super reliable and not even expensive to buy.   |
