Having collected my mates CX, I had to have one. ebay was scoured, and a LHD 2.4i Prestige (lwb) was found in Brighton. A flight down to collect, and it was picked up with steam pouring out and a non charging alternator. the steam was solved by tightening the coolant tank cap, as it was loose. The alternator proved more troublesome and led to a breakdown on the m25. It arrived home on the back of a truck whilst we flew up. the doors and wings are rotton but I have a full set of spares in the car Anyway here are some pics!

Fantastic. Prestige too, based on the longer safari! The rear legroom in my dads 22trs is very generous but the prestige is huge!

Great car. Brave man. The early ones are definately the most stylish. Not far from here are CXBasis who know their way around these cars. If you look at their for sale section you can see what a sorted one sells for. That's what always scared me off buying a cheap one.. escalating costs! Looks like the wig of 2CV Ian fiddling in the back of that XM?

Got a bit more looked at on this at the weekend - key thing is solving the charging issue. Battery light comes on when you key on and goes off once started Spare Alternator Plenty of stuff in the way Inlet off, still can't really see it Got 1 pulley off, and could get to the 21mm back bolt. Unfortunatly I didnt have a 21mm spanner, and a socket and ratchet would not fit.. at this point I put it back together and will take it to a local alternator place tomorrow -they are apparently able to supply and fit for a reasonable price.

Is it on TRX's?
Oh, and don't jack it up on the longerons. I knew a guy who had one new in 1982. It was written off at three years old when a tyre place jacked it up in the wrong place. It went back on the road - I saw it a couple of years later - but twisted.

Re jacking points, I'll only let them put it on a ramp it can drive onto!
