So last winter a friend of mine got sick of his car and was on the point of weighing it in at the scrappers.
But since it was a pretty clean car, I made him an offer and now I own a mk2F/mk3 Polo GT...
Initial plans were to weld the sills, slap on a new MOT and sell it on, since I didn't really need another car.
This is where things got out of hand.
MK1 golf coilovers were modified to fit. Cool ass 90's alloys were sourced. And things went down, literally
Now in the UK a Polo GT means u get the peppy 75hp engine.
However in some other country's they sold the GT's as a trim model.
All the good bits of a GT, with a slow boring 55hp lump.
Like mine...
So got another of those 55hp blocks for a case of beer and rebuilt it with G40 internals.
With oversize pistons, Schrick asymmetrical 252°/276° camshaft, Schrick double valve springs and a table full of rebuild-stuffs, things went way out of hand once again
Then I changed wheels for something that doens't rub, till I can afford some decent 2 or 3 piece wheels for the car.
This is what looked like on the last car event it went to before the engine came out.
Where I bought some Mattig Cup mirrors, to stick with the 90's theme I originally wanted for the car
But yeah, engine swap time!
Goodbye
And hello!
A little further
And got it running for the first time. (open downpipe so it sounds horrible, but so stoked it runs )
So this is basicly where it stands today. Still need to get a nice intercooler that fits behind the front bumper and a decent oil feed for the Turbo.
Old one snapped and lubricated most of the garden and garage door...
Hope to have it's maiden voyage next weekend
