Cracking looking thing that Jag, but unless there's background detail to go with the pictue, I'm holding a grenade with large yellow yellow letters spelling B I V A  And how silly do Rover look now for not producing an MG Coupe? Does this not overlap with the one-picture-no-words-necessary-thread ? |

I think I saw something like this at a car show years ago... it had modern dash, steering wheel etc. plus running gear. The company name was on the chrome sill covers - Beacham of New Zealand. I wonder if this car was built by them too? |

There's curently some mysteries surrounding that car - but it's not made by Beacham DWDarkWheels I would have put it there if it would still be in existance... |

How would importing a car like this built in another country relate to biva?

It would still need to go through it I believe.
A chap I know is having to biva his 1980's Ford F350 recovery truck which he bought from Ireland, and that is factory standard, but because never officially imported here it had to be approved apparently!

Something i have always wondered with regards to IVA and BIVAs, if your car is tax exempt and needs a test and goes onto a Q plate is it still tax free or does it become taxed again?

I believe it loses it's 'historic vehicle' status and thus is taxed at the old standard rate of £210 or £ 130 (or whatever it is) a year

From reading up on the IVA stuff, you get a new identity so it essentially becomes a 'new' car, but they are classed under the older pre-2001 tax system under/over 1600cc.
The upside is that as a 'new' car, reportably they don't need an mot for the first 3 years like all the other new cars.
