The wheels look awesome, and I was literally just parked beside that GMC outside Tesco haha. Some guy almost plowed his Mondeo into the trolley bay while staring at it. Will be cool to see them with the rubber on and on the car.

Such a lovely 'pure' looking car, probably more 'wow' than something overly modified. I used to smoke around in a MK1 2.0 Pinto Granada way back when. I found it very sprightly and, well, actually it was more of a grin to drive than the V6s, handled better and didn't feel much slower on acceleration. Great to see Billy Basics brought back to life and cherished. Good work!!

Jxke - I'm going to see him tonight mate, not seen the GMC on the road, so I'm looking forward to it. Got some blasting that I need doing.
Zeb - Thanks for those comments mate, you've clearly noticed what I've wanted to achieve so I'm really pleased. I wanted to achieve my OEM+ look.

Pistonpopper - Thanks fella, appreciate the compliment. Grifterkid - Yes I had a sneaky suspicion you liked the car but you don't give too much away. OEM+ is what I try and go for with all my cars. Keep them looking standard but with subtle modifications to improve and bring them in to line with modern standards. Time for an update. Firstly a little job was replacing the old dirty looking windscreen washer pipe from the bottle to the nozzles. From this; To this; Not majorly exciting I know! However it's a job never the less. Anyway, moving on I went to collect my wheels. So here they are. Got dish? If truth be told there has been some confusion with the colour at the powder coaters. I really wanted them standard metallic silver as they would have been from factory. Unfortunately they've been painted in a semi-metallic grey that if I'm honest looks like primer to me. Would be interested to know other people's opinions. Going to test fit them on the car tomorrow to see how they contrast with the red but I have a feeling I won't like them. Guess we will have to see. As mentioned, let me know your thoughts and opinions please.

The banded steels will look awesome, especially with the center caps. Are you going with low pro's or meaty tyres? I just now need to trial some tyres for fitment. As I'm really not sure what size to run. Your banded steels are done "wrong" so they won't be very easy to get tyres on and off, so i wouldn't bother the local tyrefitter with too many trial fitments

Dude - I'm not going low profile as the car isn't low enough to get away with it. It's only been lowered 35mm so I'll still have a slightly meaty tyre. I guess somewhere between the two. I'll be fitting the tyres myself, I know why you've said that they're 'wrong' but they're simple to fit. You just put the tyre on from the rear side of the wheel. Simples! Got to think out of the box sometimes mate

Just been reading your thread, I think its spot on and your attention to detail is amazin! Its surprisin that even a much loved ex show car ends up needing so much done to it, fair play tho for saving it from the oval.

Marsh300ce - Thanks mate, I appreciate the attention to detail comment. It's a real compliment when someone notices your work. So today I fitted a tyre to the widest rim. It's a 175/60 R14. It's a nice stretch but also a good amount of sidewall as the Granada isn't low enough to allow for low profile tyres. Thanks for looking and all comments welcomed and appreciated.

That sure is stretched!! Think that tyre size was the original spec for your Granada? How would that affect the ride/grip? The wheel colour suits it m8 imho, bit different to the norm too

i know negativity is pretty much frowned upon in RR folk law. allot of time, effort, cash and workmanship have clearly gone into the wheels, but honestly i think it looks stupid with those tyres, especially considering such a quality OEM+ vehicle like yours

Marsh300ce - The tyre is the original size for that car. That tyre literally came off the spare. It shouldn't really affect the grip too much. It had very little to begin with and I'm sure it'll have very little after. I've only fitted that tyre to the rim as I mentioned to give me an idea of what tyre sizes to look at. The colour has actually grown on me now as well. Darrenh - Negativity is fine in any of my threads. I don't post up my updates expecting people to agree with everything I do and say how wonderful it is. I always ask for people's opinion good or bad and I respect yours on this occasion and thank you for it. However as I stated, I only fitted this tyre to give me an idea of how it would look on the car. I didn't want to spend loads of money on 4 tyres to find they don't suit the car. This one was free as I already had it. The plan is to put it on the car tomorrow and see exactly how it looks. I have toyed with the idea of a 185/50 R14 which would probably be a bit more appropriate, however I'd have to find a part worn to test the theory. What do you reckon? These tyres are by no means set in stone until such time I've seen them on the car. The other problem is that the car isn't low enough to get away with really low profile tyres. There'd be far too much arch gap. Anyway, I'm going to put the wheel on tomorrow and see exactly how it looks on the car.

I bloody love this car, and the wheels are superb...... but I really think it needs decking and much lower profiles.

AB car pix - Thank you mate. I can see why it would look better lower with lower profiles on. However I've never wanted the Euro look on the car. I only went for a subtle drop of 35-40mm, purely to bring it up to date and remove the body roll. In an ideal world I'd love to put it on air! However if I go lower profile tyres then I'll have a silly arch gap. Have a look at the pics below and see what you think. Sinky - It certainly is So time for another update. You may have noticed that my bonnet was off in the latest pictures, that's been in the body shop having the stone damage and dents removed. So I went to pick it up and fit it to the car. The paint match is so good. I took the fuel flap off to be scoped for the paint match, I'm really impressed with the match. The bonnet was the worst part, there are some small dents on the roof and bootlid which I'll probably sort next year. Anyway, thought with all the comments about the wheels and tyre choice, I'd fit that one on to the car and see what it looked like. So I had fitted the 2.5" wheel which is a rear one. So I fitted it to the rear and here is the outcome. Now if I'm honest I quite like it, importantly it looks the way I wanted it to. It looks similar to what my MK1 Cav does. I think it still looks OEM and almost 80s German saloon alloys style. Like some Pentas. Anyway, I'll get a front wheel fitted up and when it's not raining I'll pull it out of the garage to take some more pics. As always, all comments welcomed and appreciated.

i think my main gripe is that its "a scene mod" on probably the complete antithesis of a scene vehicle.
wheel looks fantastic, profile looks good (gap to wheel arch) maybe just increase a few clicks on the nominal section width, which is the whole point of wide wheels (imho)

Ivangt6 - Thanks buddy, just need the centre caps painting the same colour to finish it off.
Darrenh - Yes that's a fair comment, 'scene' isn't the way I wanted to go however the stretch is a bit scene. With you there. I am toying with the idea of a 185 width as mentioned, it's just a matter of finding the right aspect ratio. A 50 will be 20mm smaller over the full diameter of the wheel, which will obviously open up the arch gap. I also don't want any kind of fouling on bodywork or the tyre potruding from the body. If I'm completely honest I may have gone about 1/2" too far on the set, however I will have to live with what I've got as I can't shorten them now. I still think the wheels looks quite OEM+.
