We moved into a house on a part-built development just before Christmas, took the mutt for a walk at lunchtime and look what was parked outside the sales office :- Stopped me in my tracks! Was a bit like stumbling upon a flying saucer in the middle of Lidl carpark! Thought it was maybe a tarted up hearse from a distance but on closer inspection think it's a gen-u-wine shooting brake. Not my cup of tea at all but brought a smile to my face nonetheless.

It was fairly massive, as you can see by the amount it sticks out of the parking space!

It might be a Jankel Val D'Isere, which would make it quite rare and probably very valuable. There looks to be too much 'body' between the rear wheels and the start of the rear bumper for a Jankel though, so it's probably a coachbuilt 'flower car' to be used for funerals.
The Jankel cars could be ordered with an awesome sounding hydraulic front wheel drive (built into the front hubs) that only operated in reverse and first gear and up to 30mph. Most of them were Bentleys but the SZ chassis was used for both Bentleys and RRs of the time so the Jankel conversion would have been viable for both.

That's is VERY tidy!!! Not much hinting that it is a conversion. I mean look at some Crayfords - horribly things! Even Steve Wonder could tell it's not genuine... This Roller however - very, very nice!!

This is definitely some kind of hearse that didn't become a hearse... This definitely looks superb!!!
On a slightly related note I saw an old W123 Merc' hearse being used as a van for a painter & decorator this morning!!!

There's one of them that Rolls around Newcastle. Looks ace. Always think it should have a couple of Spaniels in the back.

Same colour as this qwerty? Could be the same car as we're only in Shildon, not a million miles away.

Now thats a proper estate car! What was the bonnet mascot, can't make it out in the photo, but it doesn't look the normal one?

I was working with them until middle of last year, for another company mentioned in this thread - Jankel. Streamlines are responsible for a replica Benz W196 as well as resto work on Astons, while Jankel have moved on from stretching Rollers to military vehicles. Fablink are related to the modern Streamlines and make cabs for various off-highway machinery, some of it yellow Back on topic though, that wagon shouts vulgarity, probably the developer's??

Vulgar? Surely not!
Did have a little chuckle at the colour scheme, sure that green's an early 80s Vauxhall shade that I consider one of the ugliest colours ever put on a car.
