TBH this is more about blowing off steam and sharing a problem than actually solving it, but here goes....
Dear RetroRides,
Obviously I recently ruined my Sierra so I bought a little K10 to run around in, which after a couple of weeks of messing around looks like this....
...it's economical, fun and easy to modify. However the tyres rub on everything and ideally I'd like to swap them for 13's or try some smaller sidewall tyres. Although I'm feeling 13's more. Also some bell cheese in a Transit Connect did this...
...although I've got a spare wing and light, Rangerbob seems difficult to get hold of to get a replacement arch (a minor problem really). So I was happy with the Mirca and Chevette.
Well until I was offered a cheap E36 by a customer at work, it's got a fresh MOT and apart from being tatty drives really nice and is solid...
...now it's only a 1.8 so isn't going to set the world on fire but there is a feeling I get when I drive a RWD car that I don't get with a FWD regardless of how fun the Mirca is, it's like a warm bath. Obviously the E36 would receive lows and a welded diff, and will probably meet a sticky end, but realistically I can't afford to keep both cars and finish the Chevette this side of the next millennium.
The Chevette in a half welded up half ruined state, hopefully to be returned to the road in some kind of awesome Bosozoku style mess (providing skill, mojo and money flows in equal measure)*
So as the pole says what should I do? I really could save a good chunk of money and get rid of the Micra and E36, drive the Mrs.XR4i's 1.1 205 around and concentrate on the Chevette, but at the same time I'd get hugely bored and even then how quickly will I actually get the Chevette done? Keeping the Micra would be the sensible option, the E36 the frivolous option although when am I going to get the chance to buy a solid cheap disposable RWD car again?
I feel like a heroin addict, with cars being my heroin!
*Mojo I have, skill and money I do not.
Thanks Robin age 30 and a half
