As a complete knobhead, i fully knew my diff was leaking, but i forgot to check how much oil it was leaking.
Today my diff told me it was empty by whining and rattling to me. It's mostly ok-ish in a straight line, but really clunky/bashy/rattly whilest turning, so i guess there's not a lot of oil in there anymore and the LSD is acting up due to no oil.
I drove 10km (mostly motorway) before i noticed it, and i don't have any oil sitting at home, so the car is going to the barn on a flatbed, but i was wondering, how much have i hurt the diff by running it empty? The CROWN and pinion seem to be quite ok, because they are a little bit noisier then they where before, but not as loud as the previous time i killed a diff due to oil running in to the axle instead of staying in the diff and lubricating it. i corrected this by welding baffles in the live axle to keep the oil in the 'sump', but no oil in there at all probably didn't help
Is it a case of refill and fingers crossed, or have i deffinatly killed the clutch plate LSD? I am going to try to refill it after the Gathering, but i want to sleep well the next week, so i was hoping for some good news, otherwise it's bye bye rare TRD LSD
a quick google gave me nothing other then info about the other type of LSD, which is not in my car (i hope!)
