Not a diesel!
She'll be fine once she gets used to the heavy steering...

DL is the trim level! 1.4 Renault petrol isnt it? Not cool for a 17 yr old unless she like the drift look but who cares any first car is exciting. get her on here for inspiration do it you could do a lot worse. nice comfy safe car. I still have a workshop manual for one of these.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

OK, so two theories...... Petrol / Diesel , Which is it? I thought the DL was trim as well, and that the engines were Renault sourced, and petrol. She is no fool and of medium build. Would choose a new digital camera for college work (media studies) any day over a new dress/i-Pod etc.... so knows that image is nice, but practical is better, especially if you do not pay for it. Her mom is making her believe she is saving for a cheap car, and when the saving is done, the idea is to give her the car and let her keep the money from her job at Somerfield for classes and extras at school. Was looking at things like VW Polos as wel, but they do attract some "Scene" tax.

they wallow around corners but are better if slammed and look better too! built like a tank , my old man had a 340 which be got for free and drove for over 2 years with a burnt valve no problems. also had a mate who put one through a hedge and into a field and drove out the field after is had gone over a quite substatial drop with only a light crack on the bumper to show and a ton of dirt over the front . so they are preffty safe.
