Well some people know I have the Morris and Helga(e21), I thought I was totally content with them and didn't 'crave' another car. Obviously me being me this was a temporary feeling... I was craving another Volvo. Whilst doing my favourite hobby addiction (browsing ebay) I found myself the perfect Volvo. This was back in August now, time flies. ebay photos: I arranged the delivery with the ebay seller and a few days later it arrived all the way from Bedfordshire. Yep, it's a manual Did the obligatory rummage of the car and found a fiver! 10yrs in a barn, now to bring her back to life (back to reality)... sorry More to come...

Whilst rummaging around the car I cleaned the gunk/mud out of the boot. I soon put my hands on something gross....some false teeth Very niiiice. Right first thing to fix was the bent tie rod. As you can see from the front wheels in this picture, it was a bit of a pain steering it anywhere Someone used the tie rod to tow with instead of the towing point... Major fail. So I got it off... then got a local engineer to straighten it out. The fan had spun off at some point and crashed into the rad. So off it came. and re-cored. I also fixed the bonnet catch and gave it a gentle wash. Just to get the green off and leave it with sun faded paint. The windscreen had a few chips in it. So a new one was needed... I refurbished the twin carbs as they both leaked at the bottom. No more leaks. Its now currently having it brakes finished. Had to put new calipers all round. Then it'll be time to do a little welding.

Nice ride...
I have one too and I had almost the same issues with it. Leaking fuel pump, leaking boul carbs, sticky calipers and a squeky water pump... Love what you've done to the radiator, I'd like to do the same too...
Try to keep us posted since we are almost 5 or 6 Volvo 164 owners on here...

Thanks guys! ;D I used a brillo pad on the top of the carbs then some metal polish Well I'd like to get it dropped over some tasty wheels. Maybe a triple carb set up later on... oh and a nice exhaust to let that 6 pot sing ;D

My dad had a green one of these with tan interior. That was in the early eighties. At the same time my granddad had a 244DL in baby-sh1p brown which we later bought off him. I want an old Volvo one day. Missed out on this one, shame. I drove it for a couple of days and it is probably the most comfortable car I've ever driven.

The more i look at this the more i want one. Lowered a tiny bit with some proper period alloys this would make a superb daily driver.
