I might have to drive an un MoT'd/un tax'd car home soonish. I usually use German short term license plates, but apparently they are illegal overhere now, and most cops know about that (and i didn't!). I don't like the idea of putting false plates on it, cause knowing my luck, I'm the one who gets stopped Are there any ways to get it legal to the docks? It's only 30 miles i need to drive it, but i read that ANPR is getting used a lot overthere nowadays (they just discovered it here ) and i don't want me/the seller getting end up in troubles. Have some RR12 pictures:

you can legally drive an insured car without mot or tax to a pre-booked mot, and you can drive it home again wether or not you could convince the cops that driving it home meant to the netherlands is another matter...

Almost on the road: b11 sunny breadvan, e36 tds, 325i skidcar,
nearly there: ford f250 tathauler, suzuki alto, u11 bluey
not for a while: ford pop, 32 rails,
not in this lifetime: ruby, '29 hillman
''unfortanatly I'm quite old and scruffy and in need of some loving. my drive shaft needs a new boot....''

If it's booked in for an MOT, and you are driving directly to, or from the test, it is legal as long as it is insured. That's the closest you'll get to legally driving it unless you can find someone over here that will drive it on trade plates for you

Just get it moved to the docks on a transporter or trailer. If it's only 30 miles at £1 a mile it's only about £30. Not worth the risk and hassle to save £30.

30 miles will cost you about £70 on a truck , safest way , i used to do this for a living and run loads of cars to the docks,.

don't think the plod would accept driving from the Netherlands to the UK on a MOT appt, a decent excuse, its usually within the locale. don't know the law about having it towed to the docks? but on a lowloader like the above say would be the safest option, Had one picked up 3 months ago here, £1 a mile so £30 quid or so would be the outlay
