I lost my mojo for my long term project last night for several reasons - - It's getting cold..
- It's dark early..
- ...and all the high build primer i applied reacted and generally looked curse word.
It got me thinking that i'm probably not alone with the above, apart from the paint issue... So i was thinking we could post, - Year, Model, Make
- Length of time owned
- 1x Random snapshot of your project or part of it.
- 3x random spec's/interesting fact's
- Estimated completion date
- Build thread on Readers Rides - Yes/No
Now I know we have the Readers Rides section, but i'm always amazed at how many build projects I still manage to miss until the build thread is onto doubles figures in page numbers...so thought this would be a good heads up... I'll start.. Year/Model/Make - 1978 MGB GT Length of time owned - 9 Years 1)EFI 3.9 v8 fitted 2)It's on its 4th rear axle. 3)It will be my wedding car August 2013... Completion date - very early 2013. Readers Ride Thread - Yes. retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=110510&page=1More of lurker that a thread starter so i will not be upset if this thread drifts off into curse word thread oblivion

Year, Model, Make1978 Mini Clubman Estate (lost it's ID now anyway thanks to mods, will hit the road again on a Q) Length of time ownedOwned 4 years I think. 1x Random snapshot of your project or part of it.3x random spec's/interesting fact's1.6 20v turbo VW engine to be mid mounted longitudinally. Over 220mm lost from the roofs height in total. Fully Space-framed, soon to be fibreglass shell. Estimated completion dateI'm thinking another 18 months minimum depending on my income. Build thread on Readers RidesThere's a build thread (linked in my sig), but it'll soon be fairly irrelevant as most of the work will be re-done. I'll be starting a fresh thread when I re-start they build properly, just waiting to find a unit at the moment.

Year, Model, Make1938 hudson terraplane body cut down into a pickup cab on a 1946 rover p2 chassis. Length of time owneddepends which bit! i started piecing it together about 3 years ago. 1x Random snapshot of your project or part of it.3x random spec's/interesting fact'sthe rover chassis is underslung, making it ideal for a pickup. its BIVA legal, retaining 9 out of 12 points. its now running a 2.8L iveco truck turbodiesel motor. Estimated completion datehopefully out for next year. Build thread on Readers Rides?Yes retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=122676&page=1

Nice idea for a thread. Year, Model, Make1973 Clan Crusader Length of time owned5 months - collected on 19th May this year. 1x Random snapshot of your project or part of it.3x random spec's/interesting fact's1) It's a fibreglass (and plywood) monocoque - no steel chassis underneath. 2) It was developed by ex-Lotus engineers - Colin Chapman couldn't see enough profit in it, so they went it alone. 3) It's very light - about 630kg wet with full trim. ;D Estimated completion date22nd December 2012. Abitious, exactly 40 years from the original build date, and realistic given that I know my way round the Imp mechanical bits (and have a good engine ready to go in). Build thread on Readers RidesYes, but it's a bit slow to start, and not much progress yet. Link

Year, Model, Make2000 Proton Satria GTi Length of time owned1 year next week 1x Random snapshot of your project or part of it. 3x random spec's/interesting fact's- It thinks its a kangaroo at anything below 3000rpm
- The wheels only just fit
- Handling by Lotus (if somebody hadnt put 700lb springs on it. As it is handling by Vauxhall would closer, understeery).
Estimated completion dateEarly next year, depending on my work situation Build thread on Readers Rides - Yesretrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=125640&page=1

What a brilliant idea...I need to get back into my project and this has been a healthy reminder of how long it's been since I last did anything to it! Year, Model, Make1948 Land Rover Hotrod Length of time owned6 months 1x Random snapshot of your project or part of it.3x random spec's/interesting fact's1) It's based on a Rover P4 chassis with a 3.9 V8 and running 100% LPG. 2) It was built by Steve Dyer to specifically to fall into the correct classification of a hotrod despite not actually looking like a 'typical' hotrod. 3) It never comes up 'for general sale'. Rather it's sold onto whoever is the 'right' next owner for it. I am very honoured to be offered the chance to own it. Estimated completion dateIt'll never be 'complete', but I hope to have it back on the road in time for the Beach Party in March. Its evolution will, however, continue well beyond that date/time. Build thread on Readers RidesSure, but everything went on hold when my GF's Dad suddenly died back in June and due to many other factors, I haven't done anything to it since. That'll all be changing in November ;D Build thread HERE

Year, Model, Make1978 Lotus Elite Length of time owned11 months 1x Random snapshot of your project or part of it.3x random spec's/interesting fact's1) Buying another Elite because it was too cheap not to and discovering it had a freshly built and never run turbo engine (approx £6,000 in todays money) was a real bonus! 2) When finished, this will be my 'car to grow old with' 3) I'll probably be very old by the time I finish it Estimated completion dateAs & when. No timescales or dates set, this is a slow burner project because I want to get everything just right and perfect. Build thread on Readers RidesSure do, but I started to feel like a complete stranger in my own thread during the last four pages, so have abandoned it for now (the thread that is) Things are still happening with the car(s) down at the unit....and I'm sure I'll start back on the thread before too long. Year, Model, Make1975 Hillman Imp Length of time ownedA week short of 8 years - nearly a third of my age. 1x Random snapshot of your project or part of it.3x random specs/interesting facts1) It was my first car, until very recently was my only car, and I've done 30,000 miles in it. 2) Still an 875cc engine, but now the twin-carb model, it'll sit quite happily at 85. ;D 3) It needs a huge amount of welding - due to start once the Clan is done. Estimated completion dateNo specific deadline, but hopefully within the next year. Build thread on Readers RidesYup - not many pics though. Link

year: 1983 make: ford model: orion owned:6 months 3 facts about the orion?!ummm 1.the Orion Ghia 1.6i standard features included central locking, sunroof, front sport seats, electric windows, rear head restraints, tachometer and an information binnacle informing the driver when the vehicle needed maintenance. All of these features were rare equipment on a small family car in the 1980s, giving the Orion upmarket pretensions.(haha) 2. The orion body is just a escort with a boot, so much so, the bulkhead has the dimples for the escort RST ECUS on the bulk head, and the hole for the rear screen washer! 3.the series one escort RS turbo, has a orion front grill and rear roll bar, not the other way round like most people think!the orion had a different grill, with 3 slates, while all escort except the series 1, had a multi slat grill!. the day I fell in love, went up to strip it for bits so the chap could scrap it, stripped it, fell in love, and brought it back for a second chance at life!! the only orion to have a honda VTEC in

Right, here we go: Year, Model, MakeTriumph Spitfire 1500 Length of time ownedA few months Random snapshot of your project or part of it.3 random specs/interesting factsNot much I am afraid except: - It is very solid - The car is very much like Trigger's broom with very little being original to the car (sills/chassis are all new)
- It's had the most positive compliments from most people I know (even those who hate old cars and more positive comments than the Stag) - I must be going wrong on this car...
- Gearchanging can be fun
Estimated completion dateThis depends. It does not really need an awful lot. Build thread on Readers RidesAfraid not, the finger will be pulled out one day... And finally... Year, Model, Make1989 Peugeot 205 GTi 1.6 H Length of time owned3-4 years 1 Random snapshot of your project or part of it.3x random spec's/interesting fact'sIt's taken me to Europe twice without a hitch on journeys totalling 3,000 miles, yet it has broken down 3 times in the UK after covering next to no miles... The sump leaks more than a stricken oil tank Despite it being the car that needs the least work out of my cars, it's the one that is used the least in addition to being the car without an MOT - I really know how to use the 'best' cars... Estimated completion dateProbably never- It will be rallied at some point. Build thread on Readers Rides - Yesretrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=readersrides&thread=69453&page=2The Triumphs I would say are projects on the go. The 205 is more of a dormant project. I keep saying I will do stuff to it every week, yet it never materialises.
