I think Vauxhall-engined Fords and vice-versa always raise eyebrows because of the rivalry between the two marques, and the fact that there are loads of good engines produced by both manufacturers to be able to "keep it in the family" so to speak. I think it's great to have the freedom of not being restricted to same-brand transplants, although it does surprise some people! ;D I'm always whoring my buddy's ride 2.1 Pinto powered Vauxhall Victor.

I don't think ive got any pics of the weird stuff but between me and a good friend we've put sume strange engines in things:: lets see: -a lada 1500cc in a transit.
-that transit engine went in a chrysler cordoba..
-the chrysler cordoba 360ci v8 went in a vauxhall viva on a transit gearbox with a cortina front clip and a tr7 rear axle!!
-the viva mentioned had a dihatsu diesel on a nissan gearbox from the nissan kingcab mentioned below
and previous to that it had a 2l pinto.
- a 1600 ford diesel went in the lada that the 1500 came from.. - a volvo 2.1 engine with a metro carb "ala economy" went into a cortina.
-a big block ford 429ci going in a viva coupe (work in progress)
- a dihatsu diesel onn a nissan gearbox in my 720 kingcab but removed and now a iveco 2.8.
thats not including the more normal engine swaps like a chevette with a pinto and not counting the really oddball non car related stuff like a chainsaw engine on a scatebord and then a bmx. and a 2cylinder kybota diesel with a kind of pushbike built around it..(i think I have a small video of this on my phone somewhere) he he I love the weird conversions espetially if it anoys some "purists" at a club meet!! lol si

I always think XE into fords is a weird one especially when there's the zetec engine.

In the mid 1960s my dad bought an old and rusty Daimler. The engine was shot so he used the only engine he had with the same size flywheel. A diesel engine from a Ferguson tractor. With a home made exhaust. He still had it when I was young, I can still remember pump attendants not wanting to put diesel in it

XE into Ford (usually Escort Mk1/Mk2) was a fairly common swap in the 90s because Zetec engines were still expensive and XE's were 10 a penny.

robinxr41 in da house: Odd engine swaps? The best ever was a friend in So Cal that stuffed a Olds 455 Tornado motor & trans where the rear seat usually is in a 60's VW Bug, I just love to have some pix of that one, it ran like stink!!!! The Tokyo Drift (yes I know I should probably not like this movie but I do) Mustang with Nissan turbo motor is a real cool swap, to bad they had to polish it, rat look would have been a killer on that car..... DP says: 2 I like...... Edit: Found an interesting story about the several different Mustangs in Tokyo Drift: ......the "hero" of the new film is a '67 Mustang that eventually sports a Nissan RB26DETT, a twin-turbo straight-six familiar to gearheads as the motivating force behind the fierce Skyline GT-R. A version sporting a 430-cube Ford small-block was used by Rhys Millen for most of the sideways action shots, but when Hot Rod Magazine lined the two different 'stangs up at a dragstrip, the rice-burner ran the quarter mile in 13.32 seconds and 109.83 MPH - over 1.2 seconds quicker and 13 MPH faster than the Blue Oval V8.DP says: Ouch....
