I'm looking at various engine options for the Cortina, had settled on a mazda dohc from the MX5 but then I've ended up with a 3S-FE engine(complete with Celica attached) so ended up wondering what RWD gearbox options there are for these - assuming petrol hiace is one possible, IS200 manual if you can find one might fit? but what other options are there - and also clutch/flywheel combos are better?
Many thanks to all for any assistance.

a gearbox from an IS200 won't work, you'd need one from a japanese Altezza RS200, which comes with a fruitier version of the 3S-FE (200 bhp 3S-GE instead of 140ish) and is a 6 speed. There are 2 other options: - gearbox from a Carina/Corolla RWD Diesel (Carina CA70 or Corolla CE70) which aren't available easy - gearbox from a 1S-U'd Carina/Corona from Japan, which also is rare. So for the price of the relatively rare gearbox, i'd say go for an easier engine, or buy an Altezza gearbox with the BEAMS 3S-GE attached to it and ditch the engine you have now

As said above go for the Altezza RS box. But ditch the 3SFE, it's built for economy not speed an in my experience isn't very good at either of those things. Not worth it when 3SGE/GTE's are so cheap.
