Thought i'd introduce my new wheels a bit of an impulse buy to be honest as my mk1 Uno decided it didn't want to stop anymore thanks to a dodgy master cylinder!!!
Was looking to get a daily driver anyway, and fancied something not italian for a change.
Plus getting the bus to work ain't my thing, so £400 later and the deal was done.
Least ill get a chance to do things on the Uno now, without worrying about needing it to be roadworthy.
Admitedly i knew precious little about the car or Peugeot 106's but i love a challenge, an clearly the car was lacking tlc for a long time so hopefully i can turn it round on a resonable budget and have some fun with it as well!!
In the cold light of day it was clear to see not a massive project, but one that is going to keep me busy
All the toys work, electric windows and door mirrors, tilt slide sunroof, got a nice Sony cd player with it as well!! Sadly only one front fog lamp works? so changed the bulb. But still nothing, so guessing at a wirring issue somewhere.
The condition on the outside, dirty and mouldy, paint was flat with sign's of previous spray repairs, the alloys heavily coated in brake dust, the rear tailgate has some dents and rust, the passenger wing is slammed in on the bottom edge and the spare wheel and carrier was dumped in the boot
The rear bumper was clearly repainted by a sadistic vandal!! so ill be sorting that out and getting a replacement.
The spare steel wheel was flat, rusty and hand painted bright red? that'll be binned off for a spare alloy me thinks
Anyway first things first decided to get it serviced as i didn't want to be flexing my RAC card anytime soon, got a cambelt an tensioner done. The tensioner was about knackered, had a new water pump to be on the safe side!! Oh and the alternator belt, good thing as that was missing a lot of teeth so worth spending the £££!!!
Oil was black so changed that an the filter, coolent wasn't great either so changed that, air filter fell to pieces.
So needless to say i changed that, the air filter box etc.. all broken previously by some ham fisted so an so. Another thing on my list, fitted new plugs and leads as the car was only firing on three cylinders.. how i didn't notice before i thought all french cars ran like that? Erm.. woops!!
Anyway sorry for the lack of pics, ill add more soon as i bearly had the car more than two weeks.
But here's one of the car last weekend, after a much needed wash and polish.
Will be making a list of parts ill need, so looks as if ill be making some trips to various scrap yards and searching eBay for bargains!!
It is a lot of fun to drive with the 1.4 engine, i can see why there such a popular car to be turned into track day toys!! Hmmm..
Despite it being a run about i have some idea's for some retro mod's on this project already, don't want to spend to much as i need to concentrate on the Uno but watch this space
So there it is as it stands for now, hope you all like it an ill try an update it as much as i can. Just as and when the interesting stuff happens, and all the nice bits/ mods etc get sorted.
