Thought I'd bang up a thread for this. Bought it in July for £1250 pretty much as you see it. 1.6 V-spec with intergalactic mileage, V-LSD, Koni top adjustables on standard springs, Vented headlight cover, strut braces, Jackson Racing CAI, Larini CAT back stanless system, Stainless deCAT, Rays Engineering 15x7 alloys with Toyo T1R rubber up front and Goodyear Eagle F1 front, 14 deg timing mod and some bad transmission whine. All I've added is the Garage Vary front lip, a few stickers, a cuddly toy and had it machine polished. Will then get the geometery set up properly at Wheels In Motion. Long term future plans are a blowover to get rid of the scratches, small dents and stone chips also looking at dropping in the 6 speed box and Torsen diff from the 1.8 MKII sport for better cruising and slightly quicker 0-60. But that' salll long long term ponderings. I am having dirty thoughts of boosting it but it's my daily (300 miles a week) and I still have my MKII Golf GTI track car for dedicated hoonage. Nick

Looks fantastic. Like the wheels too, they really suit it.
Love that the V-Spec comes with a Nardi wheel as standard too. It's a thing of beauty.

Nice car, gotta love a good V-spec ;D
Personally I'd sell the wing mirrors and get some BRG ones - I'm not a chrome fan and reckon they look a bit 'at odds' with the rest of the car. BRG ones look a lot more 'apt' to me for some reason (plus you'll get good wedge for the chromies!)
I've got a genuine V-spec Nardi gearknob for sale if you're interested? I'll try and get some pics of it. Not perfect, but still very good. Also got the original wooden handbrake cover too.
If you need any tan interior bits, let me know - I've got most of a tan interior from when I pulled mine out to change the scheme a bit. Teardrop doorcards with factory tweeters for example. Dashboard, rear carpet, most of the plastics...etc...let me know if you need anything?
Looking forward to seeing it a little lower. Wheels look great and will look even better with some altitude reduction. Bookmarked.

I'd stay chrome but go for bullets instead of chome-covered standard mirrors. Rear vision will be a bit pants but it'll look ace.

Love the V-spec, stunning example as well. Truly brilliant wheels, and as said, will look even better once hit with the stick. Look forward to updates

Cheers guys. It's in pretty good nick but like all 20 year old cars it's far from perfect. I wasn't sure on the mirrors when I bought it but they've really grown on me and I love them now. They tie in with the chrome door handles and the wheel lips. I won't be adding anymore chrome though, it's not really my bag.
Mystery Machine: Pics of your knob would be great! lol. The only other V-Spec thing I'm after is a fresh drivers seat but I think that'll be a fruitless search. Will have to save up the £400 to get them retrimmed.

Noticed recently the handling has been a bit off and the car felt twitchy and not very sure footed, especially at speed or over rough stuff. On cleaning this weekend I noticed that the inside of my nearside tyre was quite warn and it looked like I had a fair bot of toe out going on. Seems my "Off" the other week must have knocked a few things out.
Took it to a local place to work at lunch to have the tracking done and they tweeked front and rear, it was quite far out! The quick blast back to work seems to show much improvement. In fact it feels better than ever. Result!
Will be interesting to see the further improvement the full alignment at WIM will make when I get that done in December after fitting the lowering springs.

Well played Nick, I've got a soft spot for these. The only thing I'd change is the grille mesh, think I'd give it a lick of black paint. Otherwise she's bang on - bet you can't wait to jump in the old girl and feel Bruce's knob in your left hand.

Cheers bud, still got the Golf though so not deserting my dubs!
I did think about spraying the front grill. Will have to have a mess about in Photoshop and see what I think.

I did think about spraying the front grill. Will have to have a mess about in Photoshop and see what I think. Not sure if this is any help? Stainless steel....rubbed down to give a key: ....a dose of etch primer followed by a good coat of normal primer Satin black (sorry, it's the best photo I can find because it really does 'disappear' once it's black!)

I'm a bit shy when it comes to publicly showing it I haven't had chance to get to the unit yet, but will be down there tomorrow, so will grab some shots of it then.
