tickling my fancy at the mo is a sierra saph with a mk1 sierra front on it. richard petty colours on black rs7's. 2.3 pinto under the hood, stock at first then liven it up with some parts from the esslinger catalogue This sounds completely crazy B&D and I'm surprised noone has done it yet! It would certainly peck some heads well and truly, specially if you get a an early private plate on it, Like a C or D reg! Well I have a sapph poss available with one wing needing replacing, some big mk1 lights, and I did know where to get a cheap 2.3 turbo from too!!!! Edit: I have RS7's too but they are not for sale yet!

I'm liking every option so far. but i have to stick with the marque and say put a fiat twink in a rapid and, well, just remove the springs and ride it on the bump stops over ats classics with stretched rubber. you'd come away with a year of drink money from your budget saying that, every other idea so far sounds ace too lol

BMW's are nice but I always find the insurance extortinate, even on lowly models. A "plain" 318i is 700 quid more than my previous 180BHP Sprint. How exactly does that work??? My brother pays diddly squit on his. And he has an 'LU1' postcode. Which is as close to Compton as you are gonna get in the UK.

The thing is to avoid cars which are expensive or in demand. See a decent Anglia is now going to set you back most of your budget meaning less money to build it.
I'd go with something cheap and 70s. Avengers, Vivas, Marinas, Itals, Hunters, Chevettes (especially saloons), Victors, and basically anything not a Ford is going to be reasonably cheap. Maybe even a nice Mk4/Mk5 Cortina - still bargains to be had there. Decent Capris are getting hard to find for sensible money now. There are cheap ones out there but the amount of work needed is going to offset that...
Triumphs are a good bet too, the Toledos especially seem undervallued.
Drop in a Rover V8, Nissan 200SX turbo 4 pot, 2.9 Ford V6 24V, hot crossflow, the possibilities are endless.
I'd like to build a Hunter, slammed low with a supercharged Holbay lump, or even just on twin 40s would rock.

I don't know Pog, it's always a bit of a mystery. I guess it might be cheap considering the car, but still. Not gonna pay that! Maybe it's 'coz I'm not 21 yet, I don't know.
Like I looked into that 325 in Biggles, was 1200 quid for insurance even via a specialist! From the same people insuring my Dolly mixture for 550! Hah!

Mazda b2000 pick up truck + wide steelies + F20C engine + supercharger = Woulld be well more than the proposed budget, but that's the thought in my head atm. Or, mk1 mr2, slammed, wide pimp wheels, stripped with buckets, a formula pacific 4ag and cage. Or, something boring, like a vectra, then omega running gear, then spend fecking ages putting the curse word together, then add a turbo or charger to the v6, sleepers ftw. Edit for the 3rd time, stupid hangover. ;D

Volvo 740* turboid nutter b'stard ;D According to the guys on the VOC forum, it doesn't take much to make them handle either (iirc, just springs, dampers & ARBs). A 740 GLT would be maybe Ā£400 / Ā£500 for an immaculate low mileage one, but probably a lot less for something that's ok. *either saloon or estate, but saloons are cheaper Sadly though I can't afford to insure even a n/a 2.3 yet

keefy you'll be able to kick ass in that bug on the track when its done, but it would be tears if it got bashed! I was thinking about my Scimitar concept idea last night, and couldnt sleep!!! If I had the skillzorz and propper workshop i could turn out a crude Track rebel within the proposed budget. If you were looking at FWD, a 16v Citroen BX would be a bit of light weght fun.

Good Idea, as a track virgin the way i look at it is experimenting on how to drive your car fast on the track may save an accident on the road, if you get me.

I rather fancy one of these... Nissan Silvia Turbo Which I guess would fit the bill perfectly Mods include; fitting an intercooler enabling the boost to be increased, lowered suspension & motorsport inspired wheels -- JOB DONE ;D BTW why aren't the drifters using these?

A red S12 given the same treatment as Charlie's Bluebird. OOF!
