I've been tempted to get an XJS for drifting for a while... There was a cheap manual one on here for around £750 T&T, I didn't have the balls... They are also BMW fitment and Jags normally run a high offset, so this pretty much means cheap BMW dish!

I'd realy fancy on of these. I think it's one of the most affordable V12s you can get? Actually, I've toyed with tha idea of a XJS as a winter daily. But sense killed that idea... ;D

Ooh, I love the XJS, what a great looking car. Always think of the stripped out Top Gear V12 on nitrous ;D 13 second quarter and blowing away a 911 and Ferrari just looks so right without bumpers

In 1999 I joined Revs Magazine at the end of a series of features called Dogs Tour'd, where four staff members had a grand to buy and modify a car. Dan Williamson bought an XJS V12 for £750, managed to get it around Bruntingthorpe, dynod and other stuff before we drove to Knockhill from Peterborough for the last part of the challenge. We felt like kings gunning it away from Sheffield listening to T Rex on cassette. I took it (or it took me) round a wet track and then we proceeded to play bangers with a Sierra XR4 and an S12 Silvia on the hairpin... When I googled to see if there were any images online, I found this... Which is what it looked like in my head ;D The next series of features was called World F'Cup...

Ive always wanted an XJ-S so badly it hurts my face... Justifying one is my problem but I keep momentarily convincing myself that it would be a great race-day toy project, thankfully by the time Ive manged to load ebay, theres either none cheap enough or Ive checked my bank balance! Anywho this is the best I can do at short notice:

IIRC you had a Golf with Variable Cone Induction on the F'cup? haha

^ Haha, yeah that was me, a traffic cone shoved the grille of a Mk1 Golf... Proper tuning mag stuff ;D Well remembered, half the time the magazine was one big private office joke, we changed the legal wording, the bar code used to have hidden jokes in it and more. One of the few I can find online that we got away with was this... Anyway, back on topic... I'm glad that XJ came up in the search, because it is so right...

I'll dig through my collection of REVS and scan it in if i get a chance.
Used to be an avid reader of REVS as it was the only one I could leave lying around the house, and was focussed on cars!!! Used to love some of the challenges I remember one involving a Capri and a Starion I think and a Saab 9000 and something else. I think Dogs Tour'd was just before I started reading it.

It is my childhood hero, and my all time favorite car, but i know it would ruin me, and cost the earth to run, and not fit in the garage etc etc

Long been a fan of these, my Uncle had a TWR XJS back in the very early nineties, quite possibly the most rapid beast I have been a passenger in, it literally pushed me back in the seat on acceleration.
