Ive recently purchased this and i love it and intended on taking it to the gathering as its abit more interesting than my brothers arosa which is the other option plus its big and comfy for the 3 of us traveling down however the radio doesn't work atm so it would be nearly 300miles each way in silence and its a 2.0 petrol and does about 35MPG on a run My brother has a 1.0 arosa which he has put coilovers on but hasn't done anything else. This does more like 50mpg on a run and on a 5-600 mile round trip it makes a canny difference in cost and at the min I'm pretty skint. It also has a working stereo. Also though if i didn't take the passat i would have these with these hubcaps on that i could put on the arosa to make it that bit more interesting. Shall i just pay the extra £10 each in fuel and do the journey in silence or go in my brothers car with sound and cheapness but have to bear a 1.0 arosa and my brothers driving? Thanks

i'd take the passat and just chuck an old ghetto blaster / ipod and speakers in the back seat - they you get some lo-fi tunes and can cruise in style :-)

Come on man, I'm going to be getting 30mpg or less for hundreds of miles and I'm going to be a shaking deaf stinking wreck by the time I get there. Does this question even need answering? Have a picture of my flathead to help

Schlomp - surely you have a radio/tape machine around the place that will take 1/2 hour to fix ? Go in comfort and stylee. I have an 8 track cartridge player with a couple of Carpenters tapes if you are desperate.
