So after lurking on here for quite a while not doing much but staring at everyone's beautiful creations, I thought it was high time I put my Volvo up on here.
So to begin with, it (he, named Derrick, got my gaf to thank for that!) was a completely standard 1.4 MK2 340. Picked up for a measly sum last summer, he was surprisingly solid for an '84 car that hadn't been garaged most of it's life. A sergeant colonel had owned it previously, and hadn't driven it more than what seemed to be 1000 mile a year looking at the history.
Basic stuff began like cosmetic work for the paint and rust prevention for the outer body work. (Still that one patch on the rear quarter though, grrr) and it escalated from there. Since then he's been converted to williams clio power, lowered (-3"), stiffened (adjustable dampers all round), polybushed, and wider wheels.
I've also done a few tidy up bits for the interior in the ways of a machined gear knob, and a switch panel (just for kicks).
I've been on V3M for a while now, and have been updating progress as I go along there, but I'll be updating here as well too now.
The full thread is here if anyone wants a gander. www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=10807
I'll leave you with some pics of how the beast stands at the moment, unfortunately lacking movement at the mo, due to the classic "prop-shaft failure" the 340 side of the 300 series seems to experience when converted to valver power.
So, jobs/future plans to do are:
Custom prop
Fit oil cooler kit
Tidy engine/loom
Coilover conversion front
Space up engine mounts by +3mm
Clean the interior
Weld the diff
Re-weld jacking points (all - one of the rears decided to fail, and the fronts were to pass the MOT)
Air intake adaptor making and fitting
Watch this space! Hope to see you all at Retro rides 2011 ;D
