Found this on a random blog. No credit, no back-linking, nothing. It is awesome though, that's for sure. Anyone know more, anyone up for a bit of Friday afternoon automotive sleuthing? Chris

That'll be an Audi 60 coupe. Very tasty. (edit) Upon further investigation it could well be an Audi Super 90. Still very cool and very rare.

Oh My! I must admit, I clicked on the thread half expecting an 80's or even 90's Audi, which isn't really my taste, but that is right up my street. Lovely....

Very nice! It looks just right without too much VW "scene" added.

well, that is an Audi 60... i had a couple of those, and there is a nice one in the readers ride section (with Fuchs wheels) . Interesting story; it is based on the DKW F102, the last two-stroke DKW built in the mid 60s. DKW then belonged to Mercedes Benz . They realized, that the 2 stroke engine didn't have a future and sent one engineer, Ludwig Kraus to DKW to convert the F102 to 4stroke. Mercedes had an engine, which was developed for a military vehicle, the engine had very high compression, as it should run on every kind of fuel ... then they renamed it "Audi" and started selling these cars, they were like small Mercedeses . Mercedes then sold the factory and the brand to VW, as VW were running out of factories to build the beetle . Audi had some very good engineers, which developed a bigger Audi 60 (Audi 100) basically on a shoe string and they could convince Heinrich Nordhoff to build that car, too. The rest is history... tbh, i liked the Audi 60, but it is not that nice to drive; steering is very light , as the Mercedes engine is really heavy, it has torsion bars at the front and at the rear and inner brake discs at the front ... built quality was ok, and that was a typical car for teachers and elderly people. Quite a lot are still alive, but the supply of parts is a nightmare....

Loving that 60! Technically an Auto Union as the make was AU and the Model was Audi and the 60 denoted the bhp, with the Super90 being the top of the range with a twin choke carb and a whopping 90 horses! I'll raise that with something a tad rarer, but not slammed, although I've got a set of cosmics in the correct PCD sitting on my shelf!!
