Morning all, Been browsing the web for a while looking for info on how I change my 1958 Hillman Minx to free tax... last on the road in the 1980's when they paid for tax... I'd rather not... So far I've only found people saying, wait until you have an MOT... well what if the car is MOT exempt??? I am hoping to get an inspection anyway, but will they still provide a certificate... and once I have one, where do I go from there.... Any info or links would be great Thanks in advance Matt

After a few runs around a "private" car park, the brakes seem to be in good shape, lights work, battery is either very drained or it needs another, back home soon to charge, but running pretty well... Inspection January? we shall see... Main concern... exhaust may need looking at, so all in all not too bad

Looks alot like my old one, although that wasnt the reg. strangely enough it was dark blue, I sold it to someone called tom, who painted it matt black and changed the steels to alloys that look very similar to this... strange

Could be on to something there too yeh it was that bolt, tried rocking the car by hand whilst feeling the top mount bolt, and it does seem loose.
Although having checked this against the other side, they both seem the same.

Far too dark out there and to be honest think you right, it wasn't doing this even when the spring had broke.

Afternoon all, I jumped in my modern car this morning, turned in the road and BANG so drove it out of the middle of the road and picked up the remainder of my spring that had fallen out of the car. So I thought of to the garage to sort it, so after having replacement spring, I was sent on my way £124 lighter (differed slightly from the quote of £80inc VAT) this was because he couldn't undo a bolt... anyway... So of we went, all seaming well, the garage was closing and we left, after about 50 metres it was obvious something wasn't right, so back to the garage... oh wait there closed. So we've taken a look at home... everything seems to be right, but I don't really know what to check for, any advice or suggestions. Its a very obvious knock and one I certainly wouldn't want to make any unnecessary trips in. Very loud and only coming from one side. Helpppppp ! ! !

Evening all... So I've kind of done that thing where you just accidentally end up with another car... to be honest, I haven't looked at it, or know much about it. Just need to get up there with a trailer and drag it back What I know: -VW Scirroco -A reg (1983) -Silver (I think) So basically after some info mainly on how awkward it might be to change the clutch, and is there anything to look out for on these. What date did they change from mk1 to mk2, I'm unsure if this is early Mk2 or possibly a Mk1? Matt
