Didn't know these are solid front axle. The rear would be ok with blocks as long as you don't go too crazy with the size. There doesn't seem to be too much room above the axle without a C notch on the frame. Installing a 4 link or whatever would let you lower it as far as the body and frame would let you. For the front you could 'drop' the axle or buy an axle that has already been dropped: www.droppedaxles.com/DODGE_AXLES.html-Steve

I ask because I am looking for something that can be used as an offset transmission mount about 1" tall. Any ideas?

MK modified their Indy R kit to use MX5 components. I have one I am building right now. The first one ever outside the factory, and it was even shown on their stand at Stoneleigh. It uses the MX5 diff, drive shafts, uprights, brakes, engine, transmission, steering column, etc. Everything in fact that doesn't look like a hairdresser should be driving it. The only thing it uses that isn't MX5 is the steering rack, which is a Escort quick rack with extended tie rod ends. Living in the US, I'm stoked the MX5 is being used as a donor. The MX5 is as widely available and parts are as cheap as they are there. Sierras (called the Merkur XR4ti here) are like hens teeth. -Steve

Can someone who has their mini in bits tell me the basic dimensions of the teardrop mount? It's the front mount of the front subframe. I'm particularly interested in the diameter of the fat portion and the thickness.
Thanks ...

Dunno, but the way those tyres are worn looks like you're using the outside of the tyre much more than the inside. The insides don't look much worn at all. Do you need more negative camber?

Nice work! I've read that drilling a hole at each end of the crack stops them spreading. Not sure how one would do that in this case ...

You could replace the leaf springs with airbags so you're able to lower the rear of the truck when you're loading and then raise it back up when not. This would mean you'd have to use links of some kind to locate the rear axle.

Hi Sven, Do you still run the stock suspension up front? It does have the LH threads on the left side of the car, I've worked on some Japanese trucks before so new it the moment I got that ''half-turn-before-breaking-point-feel'' LOL Shiva It runs the stock control arms, but the spindles are from Fatman. They also supply a shock bracket so one can use real/longer shocks. The bracket will need welding to the frame. -Steve

Nice! I had a 1948 Plymouth (similar genus) and lowered the front using dropped spindles from Fatman Fab: www.fatmanfab.com/products.htmThe rear was easy using aftermarket springs. Does your Dodge have the left and right handed thread wheel studs? That almost killed me for a while ... ;D -Steve

When I first saw the Montego subject on your message I thought 'oh gawd', thinking back to when my old man had one and it was a ballache to keep running. Seemed like every weekend we were doing something to it so he could go to work on Monday. Then, just when we sorted it out with a manual choke and stuff and it was running reliably the curse word thanked us by acquiring huge rust holes everywhere. Our experience seemed to be pretty typical of the time.
However, yours is a survivor. It's been well looked after and/or just been fortunate and survived all the weather and abuse they used to get as rep-mobiles. I think you've taken something in reasonable nick and done just what it needed to get it in really good nick. And for curse word-all money too! Well done!
