Hi there,
Just noticed you're in Leeds.
If you get stuck again, I have VCDS (VW diagnostic software) and some experience with VAG cars.
I'd be happy to take a look.
Regards,
Ben

I've travel around 10k miles per year and the car has ran faultlessly. It makes the PERFECT daily driver, consistently averaging 55mpg with mixed driving. The car does have a number of age related marks, most notably: Rust has started to appear on the offside rear quarter (50p size), offside front wing and nearside front wing (common on MK3 Golfs) There is a poor cosmetic repair to the nearside front bumper and wing area Offside foglight is currently cracked, but I believe I have a replacement. I'm asking £1000For the full asking price it will come with a 12 month MOT and a fresh service. The price reflects the age, condition, mileage and upgrade parts. Also the fact it's a White 3 door TDI. (I encourage anyone to find another 3 door TDI, never mind one in white!) I'd encourage you to come and look over the car, it really is a good example of a somewhat "rare" car that would last another 21 years with a little TLC. The car is located in Batley, WF17 Please make initial contact via PM. Pictures (I'll pop some up of the car once I get the new tyres fitted):

Hi, I'm just weighing up the options of buying your second hand pump or paying a surcharge and allowing the pump builder to supply the pump body (they want £300 but I know there's not going to be any further charges). You're right though, they don't come up very often and when they do, they retain their value. Is yours from an N/A engine?

Very interested in this.
Just a bit too pricey at the moment, considering I'd want to get it refurbished and the elements changed.

I'm in Leeds and have an unbranded fixed back, side mounted bucket seat. It's sun faded black/grey with a fibreglass back. It's quite a slim fitting one.
£60 with side mounts, if you're interested.

When looking for terminals try:
RS Components Farnell Newark
I've found numerous Honda and VAG terminals in large quantities for pennies.
Also, consider changing your plugs to something more robust where possible. I use Deutsch DT or DTM connectors.

Hi,
The multifunction unit takes care of the one wipe function and the function to wipe whilst using the windscreen washer.
Whilst having a quick look for a wiring diagram I did come across a few threads saying that the wiper motors failing was a common fault. But that was mainly on the intermittent function.
Did you have it working originally on both speed settings?

From what I gather from this diagram: B - 12v LG - Earth U - Fast (Earth switched) R - Slow (Earth switched) N - Park (Earth switched)

I was really close to buying a Kangoo recently. But after the bombardment of abuse from my closest friends, including threats of not being allowed to park outside their houses I decided against.
Good luck with the 172 swap, it will certainly turn some heads!

Right then, I've spent the evening revising the diagram to my specification. I would be grateful if someone could scrutinise it to see if it can be made any better in any way.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I'm using the standard Honda ECU.
That is a useful diagram.
Would I not require the coils and injectors to run of separate relays?

I have a 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 The engine fitted is a F20c from a Honda S2000 I removed all the crude wiring and aftermarket ECU that was fitted 5 years ago Then life got in the way... I'm wanting to get the car running again I'm in the process of constructing a "power distribution panel" so I can run the engine in my car without touching the Toyota wiring. Here is how the engine is wired in it's natural habitat (please excuse the missing fuse 21): Here is a blank version (what I currently have): I would say I am competent in vehicle electrics, however it is all self taught. I've never had anyone explain the pros and cons of certain ways of doing things... sense my dilemma: I can put together a few different ways to wire up the diagram. But, I'm not confident to choose one specific way. It's my OCD's worst nightmare! I want it to be neat, tidy, simple and reliable. Would anyone care to play 'dot to dot' and make a more simple wiring diagram I can use?

You show fuel pump neg in ECU connections AND chassis harness (it comes from ECU) but no fuEl pump pos? From what I gather on the wiring diagrams, the fuel pump is negatively switched from the ECU (the wire comes from the fuel pump through the chassis harness into the E.C.C.S harness to ECU pin 108). Therefore, when the ignition is turned on, the ECU will prime the fuel pump and then switch it off. Once the engine is running, the ECU will switch the fuel pump back on. It does seem strange that there isn't a relay controlling the fuel pump though. The fuel pump 12v feed comes from a 10amp fuse in the fusebox into the chassis harness, it doesn't need to go anywhere near the ECU.
