I'm been working by the Med for most of the last year and picked up a great little bike by Spanish maker Mondraker, It was soon fitted an electric conversion kit (rear wheel motor + battery hidden under the panniers), great fun and it was my only transport last year, from June when the kit was fitted I managed 1,500km's in the first 6 months. Public transport here is cheap, relaible, and very bike-friendy (a 100km round trip on the train cost under £10) For cheap parts (but unpredictable stock) the best place I've found is www.ebay.co.uk/usr/bankrupt_bike_parts The coloured tyres are by Curio and I like them a lot ! They're cheap, very easy to go fast, never had a puncture yet, and are great on B-roads. The only downside is they are hopeless on wet grass or mud curiouk.com/ All trains here have vertical bike racks, very handy. ![](https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/nomad/0aaf95458f7f.jpg)

A 70's mopbylette I had used a similar drive system, from memory it was noticable but not a huge distance - maybe an inch? You need to think about the exhaust - how will the engine be able to pivot if you make the exhaust rigid ?

Feedback on an iPhone 5S - layout has a lot of items that overlap, result is In having to uploads photos from iPhone - create my post - then edit on a laptop. The forum was difficult to use on my Android 10” widescreen tablet a couple of months ago so I’ve been staying off the forum to give the new layout a chance to settle down (and bugs to be fixed). iPhone 5S screenshots for info, hope it helps explain the problem ![](https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/nomad/6e0cd6cebbc4.jpg)

Well it’s situation normal for me - every time I try to make plans life decides to move the goalposts. I’m still overseas and have been waiting for travel rules to ease up before I booked a flight back to the UK. Travel restrictions were relaxed last week so I started arranging my trip. A couple of days ago I got persuaded to extend my stay here - and have been promoted to General Manager of a newly created business. The newly created role includes my previous “General Dogsbody & everything else” duties but sounds better The oversized jigsaw I received a few months ago has been transformed into a very high tech domestic water UV purification system. Combined with the solar water heater that I refurbished soon after I got here, it gives unlimited boiling hot water that’s safe to drink, and very high pressure showers. The lessons learned were useful when a neighbour rang yesterday to ask "Do you how solar systems work - ours isn't getting hot". I went around earlier today and it was soon fixed, a couple of good results ![](https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/nomad/229c0d5b9463.jpg) I found a spare sit-on mower in one of the sheds (as you do), neighbours who have lived here 20 years say they never knew about it so I'd guess it's been parked up since the 90's or earlier. A total rewire (to fix damage caused by rats) + a new battery (scavenged from the recycling pile at local electrical wholesaler), strip & rebuild the carb, refurb the drive & mower pulley systems, and it's alive and great fun ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) ![](https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/nomad/2620ae1a35a3.jpg) I like to keep busy so have been doing a few small jobs, including fitting lowered false celings in several rooms (the original roof was shabby, dark, and very difficult to keep clean) The new ceiling is lower but makes the room feel a lot bigger as it's so light and fresh. Nice ![](https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/nomad/5e31fa4a7a69.jpg) Due to my extended stay I will soon (reluctantly) be selling off some "stuff" I have in storage the UK, if anyone is looking for a joblot of Retro bikes PM me and we can maybe work something out forum.retro-rides.org/thread/125072/smaller-machinery-wheels-less-50cc My next problem is sorting long term transport here. I'm now using a late model clio (on loan from a neighbour when they aren't using it), I've been given the ok to use a Nissan 100 Targa that was abondoned here many years ago (I've got it running to near MOT standard but the paperwork & admin will be difficult to sort out), or maybe I need to buy a "fun" car - watch this space ps. If anyone in the UK wants a smart BMW E93 folding hardtop cabriolet let me know, mine is MOT's until the end of the year but it makes more sense to sell it than leave it parked up doing nothing, and getting it shipped (or driven) over here isn't an option. Edit: it's a while since I tried uploading photos from an iPhone, the new layout is causing me a lot of problems so I ended up posting the pictures then editing the post on a laptop so it made sense. Either I'm missing something obvious or older iPhones and this forum don't work well together any more Fun times

I was thinking about fitting a water cooled Minarelli AM6 initially, as fitting anything with a built in gearbox would be much less involved. I'm loving the style of this, very nce work so far It looks like you're now on track but if you decide to go with a Minarelli or Malagutti let me know as I'm putting my projects up for sale soon, photos in my thread might be useful for info forum.retro-rides.org/thread/125072/smaller-machinery-wheels-less-50cc

Thread revival! Spotted this thread in your sig, did you ever get anywhere with this engine? Asking as I've got a early 80s moped with this same engine I believe (this one is a morini franco S5 right, not a minarelli?). Although mine runs great, if this is languishing under a bench then I would be very happy to take it off your hands as a spare. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Link to mine here: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/212865/v62-reg-number-rejected Bumping this as I've been overseas for a while and have just been persuaded to extend my work here so it will be a while before I get back to the UK to play with this and a few other projects If anyone has advice about what these are worth now can you let me know - I'd rather not sell them but realistically I have other thing that are taking priority. The bikes (2 complete + 90% of another for spares?) are in storage near Newcastle, would prefer them to go as 1 lot so the buyer can take their time to mix & match the parts as they like. Suggestions / ideas / questions wlcome, feel free to PM me.

Flights to UK became non-quarantine-able for the first time less than 2 weeks ago. True to form - as soon as I paid for my flight the quarantine was reintroduced. Plan B: was to land and stay indoors for 14 days and ask some mates to bring a couple of crates of essential supplies around on Friday eve. That’s now also scuppered due to local lockdown so no mixing of households. Not the way I hoped my return to UK would go Now I have a leaving date I asked if there was any other odd jobs to do before I left. My 6th sense kicked in when I heard “If you have time could you just...” Experience says the word *just* is often a big red flag! Most of the parts I needed got sent from UK, the new projects should keep me busy for a while. The only thing missing are instructions on how everything fits together! Fun times. Tip for shipping big / odd / heavy stuff around the UK or to EU try www.speedshift.co.uk/ The good news is the crate included 2 tyres in go-faster dayglow green from brand “Curio” and they work very well ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ![](https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/nomad/e12a594facf6.jpg) Recycling done properly - junk is left alongside the large communal bins in the village for self serve wombling. To fix the cutting out when you accelerate, can you fit your spare float bowl (the jets in that might not be clogged - its an easy way to pinpoint where the problem is) ? Nice to see the progress ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

In firefox if I leave the view at 100% then there is a lot of page border and the actual 'page' is about 60% of the screen width. Personally I don't care for the side bar - I just want to read the actual page. Same as BPR, I prefer a large "page" with little border. The changes have reduced the width of the "page" a lot (20% on the right is now used for sidebar, 10% on the left is blank apart from round icons) My setup: 10" wide-screen tablet running android v6.0 Browser is Maxthon (based on Firefox engine?) but appears the same on Chrome.

I remember a driver at Barford raceway (Durham) drove in the paddock with an Orion diesel smashed the windows and started racing. The rules there were very relaxed in the early days. I did the same with a rover 214, bought it from a mate (knackered but roadworthy with short t&t), prepped it at home inc make & drill roll cage etc. Drove too barford "you can't park that here - the public car park is over there" etc - gave mate the taxdisk back so he could cash in the remainder - knocked the windows out, bolted cage in and sprayed race numbers. Fun times.

.. did you ever get anywhere with this engine? ... if this is languishing under a bench then I would be very happy to take it off your hands as a spare. Hi. Everything is in deep storage at a mates place (and has been for more than a year while I'm looking for a new house with mancave), happy to leave it there for now but let me know if you get desperate. From memory there's 2x Morini bikes + 1 Minarelli.

Lovely cars, I do like Lancia styling - always classy. This has to be worth saving or putting away as an investment, look into numbers remaining if you are considering breaking/scrapping it. They were not common even when I had mine. For your fuel problem, I think there's a safety switch that cuts the fuel pump if pressure drops (crash etc), see if you can find this and bypass it. There's an access panel for the fuel pump under the back seat - just run a bypass wire direct to the pump for testing. I've had a Beta coupe (not volumex) and HF Martini turbo (fwd version of 4wd Integrale). Lessons learned: They like to rust. My Beta ate crank bearings when it wanted attention (knocking big ends twice in 3 years - once due to an emergency stop with low oil!)... Beware - I like to push the limits of cars, these are hi-power fwd sportscars and *very* tail happy. One Beta buyers guide said "check the boot floor for creases - lots of cars have crashed backwards" ! I sold the Beta when I lost the back end on a country road (not braking - I just eased off the throttle on a curve), sold the Martini and the chap who bought it put it into a hedge backwards after less than a month. By the time I sold the Martini I could do controlled drifts on roundabouts (no brakes needed). They will bite if you don't respect them. Bookmarked
