Some modern vehicles have control systems for the cooling fans where the fan/fans will run at a slow speed when the aircon is running, they will cut in the high speed only if the engine gets hot. Quite possibly, the coil is the cooling heatsink for the low speed resistor. Ttfn Glenn

Reading the news item, its all about elfin safety, need risk assessment, licenses, insurance etc etc. Also states shops will be open, just car park closed. Somehow I cannot see Tesco turning away customers, and could you imagine the PR disaster if someone is turned away whilst doing shopping for, let's say a disabled relative or a baby. This is what the future could hold. cms.walsall.gov.uk/index/policing_and_public_safety/black_country_car_cruising_injunction.htm Ttfn Glenn

Used to be silver on black was pre 73, but now it seems they are allowed on anything registered as historic, which is currently pre 75 (I think) Ttfn Glenn You are not allowed to put a newer plate on any vehicle, as this would make it look newer than it is

Silicon carbide is a common abrasive. The choice of media has to be balanced against the material you are blasting, also the surface finish you want to obtain. The setting up of your equipment also can effect your choice of media and grade (grit) Walnut shell is often used for gearboxes, so if any media is left behind the gearbox eats it, instead of the other way around Ttfn Glenn DO NOT USE SAND! Silicosis can be the result

As said before, boxing the chassis is the usual step to a stronger chassis. Triangulation will mainly stop front rear movement of the rails relative to each other. A similar result can be gained with gussets in the corners. Just be careful as modifying your chassis can take you into biva territory. Ttfn Glenn

For a bit of period style tuning, how about a reverse cone megaphone or maybe a miniature brooklands silencer? Might not fit with your plans, but how about mounting above rear axle? Hopefully should add to the risk levels as you may be able to wheelstand. If you Google Briggs and Stratton tuning there's a huge amount of information on making more power from small sidevalve motors. There's even miniature drag racers But that is just a touch off topic Ttfn Glenn

A forgotten vw van with no scene tax is the Sharan, wide selection of engines and specifications, also there's the sister Alhambra/galaxy. Built on the same line, if you want you could transfer a few badges and turn your ford/seat into a vw Ttfn Glenn

Another option could be, fit a lamda to the exhaust connect a multimeter and use it as a mixture analyser Ttfn Glenn

Would advise uprating security,, since they know what you have its quite likely they will be back, since they came equipped to break in, there's a fair chance they had prior info on what you had and how secure it was. CCTV seems to be almost the only way of getting a conviction, but a shotgun alarm is probably a better way of letting you know somethings going on Ttfn Glenn

Please be careful not to upset some of the Harley types with comments about Springer forks, especially since yours are girder forks. Hat, coat, exit stage left. Ttfn Glenn

The only pitfall I can see, moving the pump forward 3mm will put the drive pulley out of line. Don't really see a need to get the spacers laser/jet cut just a session of angle/bench grinder will easily shape a couple of bits of plate Ttfn Glenn

Suggestions for the cooling ring, pump fuel through it as an afterburner/flamethrower or as the Australians called it, dump and burn or find out what the red arrows use so you can fire out red, white or blue smoke. www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/index.php?topic=44361.0Ttfn Glenn

For your parcel dilemma, would it be possible to employ a local to collect the package for you? Whilst you use the time saved doing something much less tiresome.

About 30 years ago, I worked as a delivery driver, an odd one was aircraft glue to a taxi office, so I had to ask why, and got the reply, "I'm building a spitfire" Believe there's a firm downunder making replicas using Isuzu v6 and Chevy v8 engines, have also heard of jag v12 lumps being used Ttfn Glenn
