*Bump* Cheers for the responses, it's been realy refreshing, lots of people have had good things to say and I've been getting a lot of encouragement!
I've been getting a bit further with the set-up which is nice! Got a few jobs including a couple of V8 header flanges and a rocker cover gasket for a lotus big valve head (rare as poor quality wobbly children's play pony feathers!!). The offer still stands if anyone wants anything laser cutting, water jetting CNC milling drop me a PM and i'll give anything a go! Ant

Hello, sorry only just seen all the latest replies, thanks for all the input! Seems to me that the general idea is that I wouldn't need one but if there was one in the system it wouldn't damage anything Froggy: Interesting to know that your's dosn't need one but as I'm going down te turbo route I reckon it couldn't hurt if I could get one cheep! Thanks aain for all the info, Ant

Hello, I've been working for the past couple of years as a CAD draughtsman but recently got made redundant, I'm starting to set up a little company of my own and would like to offer my services to the lovely people of retro-rides! As I'm only just starting off I need to build up my confidence and iron out the inevitable hitches so I'm really not going to be asking for much in the way of payment and will be more than happy to make changes until you get what you want. I'm hoping this might be of use to anyone on here that might be getting parts CNC machined as a lot of the cost in this is the drawings, I'll be more than happy to save people a few quid. It could also be handy for people building garages / extensions for the initial concept drawings rather than having to pay architects prices all the time, I've got a fairly good knowledge of building regs but I wouldn't want to submit drawings to the planning office without them being checked by a pro. Anyway, here's a few examples of what I can do: This is the roll cage for my reliant kitten project (See readers rides board) It was really useful when bending up the tubes because you could just look at the drawing to find measurements from any point like from the start of one bend to the end of the other. This is the sort of thing I can do in 2D for layouts etc, this was all surveyed / measured by myself. It's a plan view of my girlfriend's parents flat that they wanted so they could give it to an architect to draw on an extension and submit it to planning. This is a little something I'm gonna get made up for my car, I've drawn it in autocad then converted it to a .dxf file so it can be sent off to a laser cutter, then I'm going to butcher an old AA badge and weld the wing bit to the top and fix the original back plate to it and I'll have an old school RR badge! If anyone wants a copy the file to make their own, PM me your email and I'll send it over to you. If anyone is interested in getting some drawings done just PM me and we can discuss! Cheers, Anthony

The top plate is just serial numbers and stuff and the other plate is the 'modification record' which I might nick and put on the dashboard instead and stamp somthing into it. It's totally blank so I don't think it's ever been installed in a jet! NOS lol

Hello I've only gone and done a bit on it!! Sorry I've been really slack with the updates recently but I've done quite a bit since last time! Firstly I got hold of and then bent a load of CDS tube (it's 32mm diameter with 3mm wall thickness) into the shape of a roll cage. I managed to borrow a very swish digital pipe bender so it all went pretty easily, messed up the first attempt at a hoop but got the hang of it after that! Last night a mate of mine came over to weld for me as i'm curse word and he's a pro and I don't want to take any chances. He's just tacked it for now as my welder isn't powerful enough I'll be taking the whole chassis and cage down to my local friendly engineering firm to weld it up propperly one saterday when it's all in place! Right Pics: This is the main hoop and the two rear legs. It's got a bent cross bar to support the engine. And I've got the engine in position to make up the rear brackets which have got to got here:- This is where the mid section of the cage will be going but I've got to mill down the ends to to fit nicely round the welds. And I got this!!! I'm pretty exited about this bargin, it's an intercooler from one of these! I'm not sure if its the best solution but it'll fit really well into the back of the kitten where there is limited space and it looks really cool too!! How effective do you lot think it'll be? It's all ally construction and it's got some lovley thin fins inside so there is quite a lot of surface area! Cheers any feedback is welcome!

It couldn't be somthing like a loose bit of trim flapping in the breez and returning to position when you stop thus remaining undetected? Or is it just not that sort of noise!?! Just a thought! ant

Cheers for your responses guys, Dave - I'll look into that and make sure I don't end up with one like that! Cheers!
Suterman - I was hoping to get away with using only one of these things along with the mecahnical pump but I'm just not sure if the pressure from the more powerful one will damage the slower flowing one?!?
popup - As above I was planning on running it WITH the mechanical pump just to sort of give it a hand with the resistance of the long runs of piping!
Any more comments ideas with this would be great help, I just want to know if I can run a low powered electric pump with the existing machanical one or if that will brake one / both??!?!
Cheers Ant

WOW Those are amazing! How long do they take you? The tubes are wicked and you could definatly shift loads of those cars for smaller money or if you could do commisions for people of their own cars or car show trophies and charge more because of the unique nature of it? *I have no real idea but they look great quality hats off to ya'*

Hello! Does anybody know if it is ok / a good idea to run an electric coolant pump with a mechanical pump still in the system? I'm installing a Kawasaki ZX10 in the rear of a reliant kitten. Thread in readers rides:- retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=53797I want to have the rad at the front of the car and the engine in the rear. Because of the lengths of the runs to and from the rad (2m - 2.5m either way) I'd like to help the mechanical pump by adding an electric one, is this needed or not and is it a bad idea, as I'd have no idea of the flow rates and pressures of each pump? If it is a good idea what cars could I pull one out of in a breakers? So far I've come up with a golf VR6 and a V6 vauxhall omega. One like this: Any ideas? ant

Reeman - that' gonna be my first port off call tomorrow but i'm thinking it's somthing more serious than that! I didn't mention that it's seriously down on power as well need to rev the nuts off of it to get it to move I had to move it last night and was whincing at the noise it was making! There is however an upside to this! I had to get the train in today so my boss offered me his Reliant Scimitar GTE 5SE for a couple of weeks so I can get to work! Yay! I love that car it's great!

Hi there, I've got a peugeot 205 1.8 turbo diesel, it's an XUD7T engine and it's developed a VERY loud knocking sound! I was driving home from work was about 2 miles from home and it very suddenly got very loud, I pulled over and had a look under the bonnet and found the alternator belt shredded but still just holding on! Naturally I thought it was that flailing around, I replaced the belt and it's still making the noise! Any ideas are apriciated!! Cheers Ant

What about bike carbs with turbo? I know that you can blow through a lot of them with very little modification just need a pressure reference from the plenum inlet! Then I gess it would be just a case of re jetting them for the car. This web site shows how to set up suzuki carbs for blow thru www.turbo-bike.com

Thankyou Mr Root!! That is a class idea crosser shocks would suit way better Nice one! Oh and cheers for the link to oldskoolsuzuki that should be usefull! I do love some of the bikes that come out of there, gotta love a 7/11!
I'm gonna be binning / e-baying the standard MX5 shocks cos I've already got a pair of CBR 600 shocks for the rear! They should be ok as there's gonna be a lot more weight over them with the engine in the back!
Cheers again for that sugestion spot on!
