My van is parked on a paving stone driveway, the rear doors are against my garage door and there's the house wall on one side and a fence on the other, both are close to the sides. Only the front of the van is exposed.
My mate from the garage has a Subaru and he never had problems with it until he took if off the road for 2 years and rot had it it badly.

What's people's thoughts on this? Does it do more harm than good to leave a vehicle standing and hardly use it?
I have a van which I am in the middle of converting to a camper. When I first got it, there were a couple of advisories on the mot for corrosion, I used the van a lot taking my bikes to sprint events and things didn't seem to get worse. Now that it's become a camper project I keep it insured but it's nearly always sorn'd and I tax it now and again for the odd month. Now the corrosion seems to be getting worse and worse.
I never thought anything about it but the guy in the local garage says leaving things standing often makes rust problems worse and if I use it more I'll probably have less problems with rust. Does that make sense?

Glad you and your son enjoyed it. Loved your 405, funny thing is my avant is also a N Reg estate and I thought know one would look twice at a mid 90s estate car so I didn't bring it and came in my lasses BMW instead. Mine is still standard but you have shown with some nice wheels and lowering your can transform an estate car into something cool. Have you got any more pics of it and details of what you have done to it? Thanks Steve have put a readers rides thread up today but basically I've lowered it, changed the bumper for a gtx one removed the rear wiper, rolled the arches and put the wheels on. Just kept it simple really mate 😊 Cool I'll have a look through your thread, simple is often best.

They are a pig to keep clean but look lovely. Not seen many like these.

Yes they are quite rare, they didn't come on the car when she bought it.. It took a few years to find them. She runs these wheels in the summer and the old standard wheels have a set of winter tyres on for October to April.

Anyone who's followed my thread about selling off my stuff will know my story, I'm on an adult apprenticeship at 41 years old and super skint till its done. I had been selling off my stuff to raise enough cash to get a car for the gathering. Long story short, my camper van project failed its mot and I blew all the money I'd raised on fixing it.
My mate had a stand pass for me and I wasn't going to come, I didn't think people would want to see my Audi A4, despite a few people saying they love my model the mid 90s avant b5. My mate suggested I brought my lasses e36 which seemed a better idea. I thought it should be OK to bring, although its a 1998 model, it's the same as any other earlier e36.
Anyway we were camped out the night before about 20 mins away, and in the night I had a really vivid dream that we were refused entry and had to put the car in the public car park. i couldn't relax at all on the morning of the show until we were there safe and had the car on the stand.
Despite being a bit unsure on coming, my other half loved the show and got super giddy which she seen the amount of bmws in the exact same shade of paint as hers. It was quite odd as apart from the e30 zone stand there were not that many other bmws there but the ones that were all seemed to be burgundy!

Great video, you've just made my lasses night when I showed her the video and her car was on it. (E36 compact in the middle of the line of Volvo estates)

We camped at a lovely place about 20 mins from the venue. Really quiet with families, set by a river. I like peace and quiet which is why I don't camp at the hill climb.

I really enjoyed the show, if camped out 20 minutes away on a night peaceful site by a river. My lass was super happy to see another 5 bmws in the same burgundy shade as hers. Anyway, big thanks to everyone that made it happen.

Unfortunately I haven't had any money since last posting so the car is as it was, totally standard. I put it in for its mot 2 days ago, I half expected it to be failed with a list of faults with it being 20 years old. I called into see the lads in the garage on my lunch break and it had failed, but only on one cracked spring. Just got the car back tonight, new spring on and a fresh mot, and best of all, no advisories.
I still want to do something cool with it, but that will have to be next year. But I might end up with another car to tinker with, but if I do, I will be keeping this. It's so silly cheap to run but good to drive, and so useful too, doing a lot of cycling lately with the missus, I can put the rear seats down and throw two bikes straight in the back.

I've got my hpi savage truck up in the bedroom, I thought about bringing it but it's a bit too big and mad to bring to a car show. 1/8th scale and runs on 14.8v lipos. I've stopped using it because it's crazy. I used to take it up the fields but if it went out of control and hit a dog or car there would be really bad damage. I was looking at joining the British rc car association and getting insurance.

Although I haven't managed to get money for a new car for the gathering, I have been continuing with my selling off of my unused stuff. It's not got me a car, but the money is helping to keep my Audi and campervan project on the road. I cleared the loft of N gauge model railway bits and bobs, that got me £90 All my old Sega cartridges got me £180 An old technics CD player, I never use it as my blu ray player does it all £21

After failing on my gathering challenge (see readers other mods) to raise funds for a new car for this weekend, I had completely given up on coming. It's a bit of a last minute thing but I've decided to come. My mate has sorted me with a pass for his stand and I've just ordered two tickets for me and my lass. Got a choice bringing her E36 or my Audi. My Audi could just about scrape in with the predominately pre 95 rule as its 1 year out (1996) but it's not particularly exciting. I think more people would prefer to see the E36.

In the middle of a normal day at work I called at a house and met an interesting fella, he had been ripped off at a couple of garages who hadn't done his tracking properly. He tried to buy a wheel aligner and found them to be hundreds of pounds. So he designed his own system to be used at home. As I left his house he let me have one for free. I haven't used it yet, just wondering if anyone has heard of them or has one. www.trackace.co.uk

Try putting a ferrite ring on the power cable for the tough book. The lead is acting like an antenna and creating interference. I've no idea what a ferrite ring is, but I'll do a Google and see if I can find one.

There's a black box behind the passenger seat, not sure if it's a power inverter or some kind of transformer. It's 6 X 2 inch, a cable goes into that, then another runs out and into the tough book. I don't think it's turning the radio off as all the normal non dab stations work fine.
It is doing my head in as I love dab, I don't like chart music so the rock stations are perfect for me. The only option at the moment is to charge my tough book at home on a night or put up with it constantly going on and off.
