A little progress during the week. My flywheel has found its way to me. Cheers Craig if your reading this. It is a little rusty but I will clean it up and see what I think but a skim may be the answer especially if I use a turbo clutch as the outer edge will have contact on the area of the flywheel that has never been used so there will be a step in the surface area. Next up was I had a play with the alternator and the zetec pulley needed 4mm taking off the back to align it with the other pulleys. I had to do the same on the escort when I did that. I have still never read of this being done on other people's threads on various forums I have looked at which makes me wonder weather most people just stick the belt on and hope for the best! This is after the 4mm had been removed. Thanks to another mate Ken for this one. I will do a bit more tomorrow. The alternator needs a good clean before I put the pulley on and I am tempted to paint the block but we will see.

Well I have had a couple of hours on this today. Nothing much happened I just gave the engine bay a bit of clean while I am at this stage. The front cross member came up well considering its 28 years old on original paint.

I had a conversation with a guy I know a few weeks back who has put a few Zetec's in Escorts and he said I am best off getting a gearbox out of an Escort GTI as they are better than getting an RS turbo box. He says the ratios are good out of a GTI and the original box will not last if you go above 5000rpm regularly likewise with a turbo box. The escort I did the zetec install in had to have a replacement box in after I had sold it which leads me to think I would be better off with an IB5 but will my XR2 drive shafts fit and will it bolt straight in? Parts Needed are: Flywheel 115 bhp escort one(may have one coming my way) Escort GTI gearboxSuitable clutch, (advice says RS turbo one with GTI release if using GTI box) Fuel tank with internal pump and swirl pot. (not keen on making my own) The ones on ebay with a swirl pot were for euro applications and I am advised by a previous authorised dealer for the manufacturer that they are terrible quality. Exhaust I am unsure which way to go, I have the down pipe off the escort so I could mate it to the XR2 system but it may restrict it slightly. I could use the escort down pipe and have a stainless system made for it which would probably work best but would rather have it looking kind of standard as it does now. Last of all you can buy an adaptor plate to use the whole cvh system and just add a sensor whole in my down pipe. see link. Adaptor plateI have heard the studs are welded to a 1mm plate on the back though which sounds poor? Anyone used one? I am not after the cheapest option I am after the most suitable option to achieve the look without sapping power. I am looking at a 40bhp increase hopefully over the cvh setup. Priority is flywheel, gearbox and clutch so I can get it bolted in as I am right out of space with all these engines dashed all over the garage and shed.

Well I have got this in the garden again for the long awaited engine transplant. Picked my steels up from the powder coaters and I am well impressed for £100 for 5. Bonnet off and this will need repairing and painting before it goes back on. It was a last minute prep and paint at the time and rust is showing again. Up in the air ready for work to start. More updates later. I was just trying the mobile photo upload out, if this post works it is much quicker.

I would have a stand pass if there is one going/the guy above is already sorted? I assume I could pay on the gate for entry? 3Dr Sierra cosworth or mk2 fiesta would be my ride.

Well no updates again for while. I have not done much, I ended up using it daily again for a brief period. It is currently clean and back in the garage. I was having a look on my facebook news feed a couple of weeks back and I came across a set of steels which turned out to be within striking distance from work but I was due to fly to the south of France the next day for weeks holiday! Not ideal as people were already showing interest within minutes of the post going live so I had to pick them up on the day I broke up putting about 80 miles onto of the journey home. Ideal when you have to be up to go to the airport in the middle of the night. I couldn't pass on them though as they were only £80 for the 4 and they don't come up for sale to often. I have dug the best of my original 4 to make set of 5. I will get them in to the powder coaters later in the week. I am going to try a different company to who done the pepperpots as there prices are getting out of control and this other place is charging what I was paying at the original place 10 years ago.

No I was walking out and saw you going to the exit. Couldn't catch you. Looked really good though. Really liked my old 214 I had. So comfy. Yours kooks great but I need to sell a jag and smart car before buying another. Oh right sorry I missed you. I have done 500 miles in it this week including 150 today, it is a shame to sell it but I just don't have a need for it now I have brought a car to tow with which can do the daily duties I just hope the replacement is as reliable as this is. Sorry I have enough cars and this is an attempt to reduce the fleet. That's fine mate. I'm doing the same. The Saab, GTI and 1300 have all gotta go. Yours was what I'm after as my only car. You never know I may still have it when you have sold something. A very handsome & clean looking example. Cheers

Got a picture of the spare wheel. Front shock and spring. Notice the red spring and what looks like the original sticker on the shock. Rear

Just been out and jacked 1 front and 1 rear wheel right off the floor and can confirm the springs are red indicating aftermarket lowering springs and shocks seem to be standard ones. The springs are not loose when the wheel is off the floor and I can see no evidence of them being chopped. The ride is firm but perfectly acceptable, I do around 300-400 miles a week in it and I don't get annoyed by the ride at all. Previous lowered escorts I have had would get a little tiresome after a while but this is without doubt a better ride. I can understand why these sold so well in the early 90s as they are a cracking car.

Selling my Rover 216 Tourer. Mot Febuary 2017 72,000 miles (will rise by 50 miles a day due to fact it is my daily) This model has the reliable Honda engine which does not suffer the usual head gasket issues that Rover engined ones suffer from. Recaro seats from a Rover 800 Vittesse the rears and door cards are from a rover 214 sei that use the same material. Lowered and fitted with 17" MGZR wheels with matching Khumo tyres 205/40/17 with good tread. I also have a matching alloy wheel with no tyre which I was going to paint to match the set as a spare. Kenwood Cd player New discs and pads all round just before I brought it. Induction kit fitted with gives a nice bark when accelerating. Drives great with no shaking on the steering or brake pedal, it really does drive well for a 20 year old car. I would not hesitate in jumping in this car right now and driving across Europe. I have covered 4000 miles in it and had no trouble at all. Price is £900 firm Located in Walsall West Midlands

Cheers. The pepperpots are growing on me, but would still like to find a couple of steels.
It's nice to get a car in a mag but this feature was a self written affair using my pics, a proper feature is better when you get some high res professional pics but I am not moaning the fiesta is not worthy a full feature tbh. I have had full features in the past though with other cars which was good but the cars have long since been sold now. The pics of the cosworth on this thread appeared in FastFord which was cool and I got a cd of the photos.
The zetec does need to go in but I never seem to get the time just recently. Must do better.
