This is a Mongoose which is in bits in my folks garage. It has the Ready Brek Ready Rider pads but sadly missing the number plaque for the handle bars. Aside from rusty wheels and a missing brake lever it's remarkably good. One of 200 competition prizes from 1983ish Photo taken on a kipper by the looks of it. Sent from my hutch using proboards

TBH, I didn't think it was a good idea to let the car out of your sight where insurance claims are concerned?

This was cheap at £170.. This at £150 Both taxed and ticketed. This is still the best though.. £100 and this is what it looked like when I got it. Returned nearly £4k just not my thing really. This it the Saab handbook think. Look in the background.... Monza GSE. There's a sign if ever there was one. This was a couple of hundred quid if I remember. Sold it to someone who destroyed it sadly. This was cheap to buy and sold cheap. £500 GSE £250 and I should not have sold..... well swapped for a Nissan 300C. Sent from there are more using proboards

A veritable extravaganza of chod here. Apparently Herbie is actually a real one from one of the films. As for that other thing you may have noticed in the picture, I'm not sure. Sent from my planning room using proboards

Nice one. Looks the business and the sound is addictive isn't it. It's amazing how good some suspension swapping can make them.

Shouldn't be difficult at all.
In fact, I'd probably find it hard to spend that much!

Yes, the 24v offers a surprisingly big improvement over the 12v.
As this is a base car, I'd wonder whether it has a limited slip diff in it too.
Not all Monzas are created equal. Plus the rot at the base of the screen and no MOT. It's a £250 gamble to me (except I like the wheels so maybe £350) compared to getting a better spec later car and a donor 24v Carlton or Senator which could probably still be done for around a grand plus some buildingerising and modifacturing.
Even quite nice GSEs turn up for under a grand on the road. The last 3 I've got have cost about £500 and that's because one of them was £500
And it's not a great colour inside or out..
And it's not got the getrag box...

Top detective work says it's is a 3.0 with a different valve cover.
Repeat, this is not a 4.0 car.
NOT A 4 LITRE.
just in case anyone is bidding.

Sounds like low fluid to me too. I always ask people several times if they're sure they want to renew their auto box fluid.
Is it working, does the fluid look ok, why change it.
A few days later, my auto changes like a piece of junk since I changed the fluid.
Can't win really.
Nice car the 300C. Had one once that had probably done a few too many burnouts.

Agreed. It looks quite low and an LSD is a sensible swap if not already in there.
A few extra horses must make a world of difference but it's not a GSE so not one for my collection.
Not sure what the deal is with those strut tops but if they're loose it would just fall off the road. The turret repairs aren't the nicest to look at but if they are strong then it's not a problem. I've seen worse patches, and bigger.
As I said, I'd pull the motor for something else and drop a 12v back in there.
That said, I'd like to explore horse increasology on a 12v before going down the "easy" route.

3.6 12v and 3.9 12v but the 24v was the 4.0. I think they'll go over 4 litres.

Friend of mine bought it last year but got made redundant to either sold it on or cancelled the sale.
If I bought it I'd only keep the engine which is definitely a 4.0 apparently.
Maybe the wheels.
I think this is all I know.
