Painted the bits at the front and back . Not perfect by a long way but when the wheels back on should look tidy. Then painted, strut tops, servo, bonnet latch, radiator cap and brushed a little over the injection pipes when there wasn’t much paint left on the brush. Just brightened them up a bit. I drained 10 litres of yellow coloured fuel, and oust some fresh in, brand new battery and jumper leads onto another battery to give it some good power. Managed to get it to splutter a bit but not much else. Engine has spark, so I might rig the fuel pump direct off a battery and see if it helps,

Looks great in that colour, rover did do a nice job with these they look smart
Door handles don’t match, maybe one snapped in the past.

I find metal putty good for repairing curb marks on alloy wheels, the stuff that comes in a tube that you squeeze together to activate. There isn’t actually kerb damaged. It more just corrosion has eaten away at bitsof the metal. I’ll have a look for some metal putty though. great progress... I was going to say re the wheels; clean, clean, clean, then sand and fill. I painted the wife's wheels on her passat a couple of years ago and they came out quite nice. 2 tone. I would recommend using several coats of a good quality clearcoat over top of the color..... JP Cheers. Was thinking it would need 3-4 coats of clear to help protect the finish.

Bought a touch up kit to fix a few areas of paint damage, not perfect but surprisingly good. Will touch up the rest of the chips and marks. Meant to snow this week so can’t see much else getting done.

Never tried to refurbish wheels before. Sanded them down and used some body filler fill in the corrosion damage areas. Will then sand and paint the bits and bobs under here All rust free under the wheel arches though which is good. I’m going to re paint under them body colour Will sort this side out before starting on the other side.

Also it turns out it’s not Mexico beige, it’s Pasadena yellow Cleaned up the spare wheel. Will put a bit of body filler if a few of the corrosion damaged areas. Then paint it silver Can’t find any pics of a Pasadena yellow 924’s so this is Mexico beige Should look better with silver wheels.

Collected the cambelt now. £6.50 so cheap enough. Wanted to have a look at the wiring today but it’s cold and I don’t get sun on the front drive until late in the afternoon and I’ve got work at 5:30. The new oil filler cap arrives which was missing so that’s good. I think I’m going to take the wheels Off a refurbish them one by one. Won’t be keeping them black, I hate black wheels. Will do them in a silver coulour. Anyone got a good guide to re doing wheels On a budget?

I’ve tried to start the engine today. It did splutter once and now it turns over and over with no sign of spark. I’m going to test the coil when I get chance. My day messing with it has ended after an hour thanks to the Mrs.
It did sound like the relay under the bonnet was kicking in so all that extra wiring might be to get the car to run. So might leave it for now. Get the engine running. Then take the wires off the battery and see if it still starts.

This was the engine before. The white cable I’ve found out goes to the 5th injector which must have been rigged off a switch on the dash.

I’ve taken the side strips off, mainly because some were falling off and some were missing. Will put a black vinyl strip back on as there is a paint edge where it’s had some paint in the past. Also splashed some white spirt around and some hot soapy water and power washed under the bonnet. Massive improvement. Started to strip some of the wiring out from the alarm, the wiring is a mess. Going to take some work to sort it out. Random cable attached to some engine sensor

Looking at the 2nd wiring pic I spy an alarm bracket so that may well be the extras under the dash There is an aftermarket immobiliser, there looks to have been an alarm siren at some point. The relay I don’t know. Possible headlights like you say, there’s various feeds off the battery doing stuff. Although if I can get the engine to start I might leave a lot of it. Although all the mobile phone rubbish will go. I’ve got a cheap polisher attachment on an electric drill which has help the body. The paint isn’t terrible. Will spend some time on the under bonnet on the weekend.

Gave it a quick wash Biggest issues is the wiring. This doesn’t look at all right. Well catered for for mobile phone holders. Shame there screwed and glued to the dash board. First obvious issues. Oil filler cap is missing Hazard light relay is stuck Brakes are tight. Nearly killed me and a mate pushing it. Wiring is a bit sketchy Good points. No serious rust, most things seem to work Mexico beige is quite a rare colour Tyres are virtually new Paint work should look good with a good polish Interior is dirty. A good wet vac should turn it around. Main this is the pop up headlights. Which work

There should be spacers under the driver's seat which when removed give about 1" of extra headroom. Will have a look, need to take the seats out to wet vac the carpets.

It’s turned up and body and rust wise. It’s pretty good, interior prob be fine with a good clean.
The wiring looks to have been messed with a lot, oil cap is missing which I didn’t know.
I dunno if I’ll get this on the road or not. Need to have a good look around it, I don’t think the steering wheels have adjustment and it’s not a good driving position for me.
Will put some pics up later.
