Now had the car back from where i left it in April 2014, it won't be going back there again! Had it 3 weeks, nearly have all the parts, can't find the original thread (there may not have been one on here) but will update this as progress moves along at a steady pace! Had the bonnet idea a couple of years ago, now it's a reality, and works perfectly, new mounts have been fabricated for the radiator, bias pedal box is now complete, tunnel needs to be sorted, but this is only for the top section, and the gearstick will need modifying due to being too far back and trying to fight for space with the handbrake! Atlas rear end, all singing/dancing, going to be using a mega-jolt set up, dumped the turbo idea and now have bike carbs and manifold. More pics to follow.

Prop has been made, things are coming along really well, buying my oil hoses this weekend, and have decided to have the coil pack inside the car, I have a huge exhaust manifold, but was on a red top in a mk1 so a lil' bit of hammering and cutting will follow!

Nice. Though I'm bias I have a mk2 4 door with an XE in. Like the bonnet idea. What manifold are you using? If it fit in mk1 should fit a mk2 though depends where and how it was mounted.

bought a huge adjustable 4 into one, but where the exit is, it comes too high against the foot-well/firewall, but, i like it so much.... IT WILL FIT! I think the only problem will be the electrics, still need to work out what injectors, and how they hold in place? sounds silly i know, but i am having trouble finding images to show exactly what else is needed?
any help would be appreciated... (we can race later!)

(we can race later!) I run mine on 45s and standalone mbe management so afraid I can't help as such with injectors and wiring but will help with anything I can. How are you planning on sorting the sparks?

I have a mega-jolt set up from Trigger wheels? i have the wheel, piles of wiring and electronic 'things' they said it is all i need for the set up i have? cost in excess of £300 so i hope it will all be good.I have a coil-pack and this will be mounted inside the car via extra long 8mm HT leads. I think i have the crank sensor in the pack as well. it contains the following; Megajolt ECU New coil pack and connector New crank sensor and connector Refurbished EDIS-4 module and connector Set of spark plug lead adaptors Universal crank sensor bracket Coil pack bracket Loom kit 36-1 trigger wheel Complete with software and mapping cable to allow you to tune the system and maps for a wide range of engines. i am still intending on having this up and running in 2 months max or at least by the end of June/July latest, that's legal and on the road. Cheers!

Cheers! Yep mega jolt is a common method on alot of engines. They are a pretty simple kit to install. But make sure you mount the trigger wheel perfectly a friend had a lot of issues with imbalance and the signal issues that caused. XE has its own trigger wheel on the crank but isn't compatible with mega jolt as it's 62-1 (iirc it's been a while). I'm guessing ur using the standard injection setup? So will have two Ecu's, one for the sparks and one for fueling? Wiring the mega jolt is a simple affair I've done a couple for friends cars. (Used to do auto electrics on hgvs for a living so get roped in lol) Omega v6 leads are ideal for long ht leads, is what I used with my coil pack on gearbox tunnel. I have hidden all my wiring under the bonnet for a clean look. Couple of tips when wiring, draw your loom on paper first, doesn't have to be to scale but having a clear idea in first place will save you headaches. get reusable cable ties for the first run of looms, makes life so much simpler as it will change. Only use good quality connectors/crimps, ones that came with my friends mega jolt kit were complete junk, this was a while back and they may have changed them. Don't use scotch locks! Solder where possible but soldering is not always best where alot of vibration/flex will occur so bear that in mind. Label, label label! Get a cheap label printer/small stickers and label your wires as you go along what it's for and live/negative rating etc. Makes trouble shooting 1000x easier if you have issues and makes changes further down line simpler too. If you have any other questions shoot me a pm I might be able to assist.

Gearbox mount has been made, as has the 2 piece prop bracket, and a sight better than the last 'people' who made a mess of it! gearstick linkage has been modified, but only selects 1 and 2, so the gearbox can sit in the corner and await a rebuild whilst the spare is bolted into place! I will need a 5 series BMW bonnet catch complete with pull cable as well, so if anyone out there can help me before i go searching all over the net!!! Not sure if all the pics are coming out ok as seems to be a problem (no surprise there!) with photobucket o' nails so i cannot upload 1 pic at a time, instead it's opening the whole of my library??? Really Grates on me! so! before it goes tits up, or just in case anyway, my apologies!

Gearbox tunnel is now finished, and surprisingly, the Heater still fits! just need some more carpet as the original one is not going to fit due to the extra area with the tunnel. more pics to follow.

coil-over fronts, vented discs, single leafs, uprated shocks, and an anti tramp/A frame set up for the moment, i will wait to see how it handles and upgrade from there. Going to lower it by 2 inches, no more. Uprated front anti roll bar,and more than likely a strut brace thrown in as well. Any suggestions gratefully received.

There's a chap on the Capripower forum that's just made himself a set of Caltrac-style bars. They don't look that tricky to knock up. Caltracs
