Good result.
On another note, wasn't that white coupe stacked up in the third pic for sale on here a few weeks back? Seem to recognise the extreme bogged-up arches and chronic rot - hence where it is now I expect!
Am I wrong in being happy that it's going to bow out in a blaze of glory? Actually, scrap that, that's a debate for another time...

A little update... car is insured with Lancaster as of today for the grand sum of £92 including £15 to cover the agreed value.
To get the agreed value if needs to be, erm, agreed by their underwriters and I need to supply six pics of the car from their desired angles.
I doubt they'll have to pay out though anyway, considering the s*dding thing won't even start...

If you have no sentimental attachment to the car (which I doubt judging by reading this thread), my advice for the very little it’s worth would be to take the £500 – harsh as it sounds, it is a damaged car with no MoT or tax at the end of the day and it could cost a few quid to get back from the yard, yet alone repair.
I can’t bring myself to do it as much as I should, but I really should get rid of my ‘hobby’ car given the grief/money it’s cost over the last eight years and the fact I’ve done a handful of miles in it, so I know where the attachment is coming from. Drawing a line under it can be a weight off your shoulders though – a colleague had a Beetle for 20-plus years and he’d already restored it once before attempting to do it again after it was his daily driver for 10 years. When it all got a bit much, he made the decision to break it and take an angle grinder to the rest. Said it felt a bit strange but quite a relief at the same time!

Yep, same as above - a big fat sweet FA from our friend Mr Hunt.
However, todaty I have been refunded by Paypal so from everyone's side (including Mr Hunt's) an absolute waste of time, really.
With this and the other saga on the missing Triumph SAH rocker cover (worth a shocking amount to lose) both recently featuring on the first page of the 'Parts for Sale' section it's a sad state of affairs for the legit sellers.
I would say, as with the cars, it should be limited to people with a minimum post count but then we'd miss out on the great stuff that many new posters do bring to the table... and I like those bits!
Good luck to you Al.

Thanks optimusprime.
Carb is now off the car and with the bemused old school mechanics of my local garage. They're going to give it a once over...

Well, it runs... sort of.
Had it running yesterday - pump is fine, fuel pressure regulator seems to be doing its thing and fuel is getting to the carb. Only problem is it tends to be staying there... the plugs are dry and to get it to run means gunning a load of carb cleaner down the air filter.
So, we're thinking that there's muck in the bottom of the carb. Would you agree? Next job is to get the carb off and drop it off at my local garage for them to give it a blast through with the air line - good idea or not? Cheers for the help so far, much appreciated.

Okay, anyone interested in buying any of this stuff I'd give it some thought as I still haven't received the item (paid for circa 27th September), although through a pm I was told "it went out last night"... "last night" being last Thursday.
I'm hoping the OP is just a bit slack on posting stuff (if so I could do with an openly honest answer) but I can see the hassle of reclaiming the money through paypal.
Really could do without the ballache to be honest.

Ta for interest but in all honesty, probably not really worth it on your part. Where I live is a 270 mile round trip from Stockport...

Yep, if the HIF44 and alloy inlet/filter are all in working order then I'll take 'em at £25 posted. Can you pm a paypal (presume that's okay) and I'll pay you asap. Thanks.

That's not far. Looks like anoldgit is in before the buzzer though, but if it doesn't go then let me know.
Let me know if you've got any other Metro Turbo parts too. On the hunt for sensibly-priced Revo RFXs in particular...

Okey, dokey, time for an update.
So, car still refuses to fire... Still doesn't smell fuelly/flooded after plenty of churning and the only smell is from the back of the car where I presume the fuel is returning to the tank? There's no traces of it on the floor.
But, looking at the inline fuel filter it's bone dry after turning the key, so I don't think fuel is coming through. I have a tested, used OE pump on its way - didn't want to mess with the different connections on the new ebay ones - and will probably change the filter too.
In the meantime is there any kind of product that could help shift a blockage in the pipe?
Thanks for all the help so far.
