Indeed I was, and back then I always thought that the publishers should give something back to the hobbyists for helping them to produce a magazine which to the publishers is little more than a vehicle for carrying advertising in order to make a profit. Me? Bitter? . . . . . . No its not part of the plan for my current business. I'm not sure about your reasons for working in the industry but for me its because I'm passionate about four wheeled vehicles and the people behind them. No i wont be paying anyone to join us on the shoot we aren't holding guns to heads here and I'm not made of money. However I will have an agreement with the Tog that the owners can get the high res versions of images FOC. Many many enthusiasts of offroad vehicles live within spitting distance of Salisbury Plains and an excuse to get out in your vehicle with a bunch of likeminded people for half a day with a Tog on hand would be enough of an excuse for me to get out the house after a months lockdown. Thanks for your concern.

Jonny Smith has recently done a couple videos interviewing Jason Plato and Matt Neal in which they share a few bits about BTCC in the 90's. Quite interesting really. I recall being at Thruxton and Silverstone in '98 - Cheered on the Volvo S40 of Rydell for the sole reason of it looking badass Yea great to watch these are. Nice to see Neal and Plato being normal everyday guys and not the tyrants they play up to be in BTCC

Thanks for the info mate. My pal is a VOSA truck inspector so I'm hoping if he signed of a load of the documents with proof of weight etc it could work. Time will tell but id say I'm certainly taking enough weight out to make it viable.

When I was up in the Northern Territories got talking to a bloke about their wet season. He went out on a trip towing his boat and in the end used his boat to tow his truck! Haha! Thats amazing!

If you fancy going single winch have a look at the Foers Ibex system. From memory winch is mounted in the middle, winch rope goes to the back of the chassis and round a modified snatch block then back along the chassis under the cab and out via rollers at the front. Winching from the front is as per normal. To winch from the back you hook the winch rope on to a mount on the front and then pull the rear snatch block out and attach it to whatever you are winching. Gives you a 1 times pull from the front and a 2 times pull from the back without having to rethread the cable through the vehicle each time. The Foers page will probably make a lot more sense! Thanks for the info i will be sure to check that out. I see you have quite a collection of trucks? any pics?

Just something about Ovlov's that tick so many boxes. My step Mother used to test drive for Volvo on the ice lakes in Sweden back in the late 80's/Early 90's so we always had Volvo Family cars.

We used to run Carbon and Carbon/Kevlar undertrays and inner arches on all the Prodrive race and rally cars. On the rally cars it was a seperate part that acted as an inner arch like a plastic one would on a production car.

Yea the plan is to stick it on a weigh bridge to see where she gets too. Only weighing 3400KG, then after we take all the kits off I reckon we will be well under 3000KG. Id say just the tipper bed and its frame have to be 300KG, Linkage will be close to 100KG for the whole setup then rear PTO etc as well.

After popping up a post on a Mog page this morning some legend has pointed me to mogparts.de who stock pretty much everything you would need to restore one. They have everything I'm going to need so I'm going to have to weigh up shipping costs Vs travelling over when we are permitted to. I love Germany so any excuse for a visit.

My worry is this, If the truck is Ag registered it is for the purpose of work use on land, if I'm wandering around up Salisbury plains with 6 other trucks there is no way i could argue that I'm working, so thats why the only option is to run her under 3500kg. "agricultural motor vehicles which are used off the road and are not tractors for example, crop sprayers and combine harvesters" Any info on the ,gov website tends to point towards needing to be working or moving a short distance between land to drive a heavy vehicle on a car licence. www.gov.uk/guidance/agricultural-vehicle-licences-and-fuel
