2 more have arrived! I have a wonderfully patinated and extremely well-used New Jersey commercial vehicle plate: and a 1972 South Carolina example in moody black. I rather like this one.

What have you got left to collect? I personally prefer worn with life stories. Apparently driving over a plate repeatedly on a flat surface straightens them out too. Not tried it myself. Well, New Jersey and South Carolina are on their way, so that leaves Delaware, Idaho, Maryland, Massachussetts, Oregon and Wisconsin. I like a bit of patina on a plate, which as you say, tells a bit of a story. I may replace a couple of printed plates with embossed ones as I prefer these, though Delaware may prove more difficult - these were only embossed up til 1961 apparently. But I am almost there!!

Right - License Plates! 3 more have landed on my doorstep in the past day so here they are: A disabled driver plate from Minnesota. This was surprisingly cheap - it was slightly bent and a bit faded but in pretty good nick. A wonderfully patinated plate from West Virginia - at 48 years old I'd expect it to be a bit worn. I'm 50 and I don't look like new anymore either! And finally a 1961 plate (61 years old) from Vermont. I find the later Vermont plates to be a bit "sterile" so when I saw this one I jumped at the chance to add it to my collection. I will be putting these up in the garage once I have a spare moment... 8 States to go!

This is the sort of car that will go to a serious car collector. I would imagine that there are some very wealthy guys out there who buy the best low mileage examples known to man, simply to look at. That won't be driven at all, sadly.
Cars are for driving.

Fabulous work - keep this going. It's a fascinating read for me as I don't really know US stuff.

I was at that exact spot about a month ago when I went down in my mate's SL for an SL get-together. Very pleasant.
Great pics - and your car's looking lush.

Just a very small update and a small but very personal thing. My brother and I put my late parents' house on the market and we cleared it for the last time last weekend. As it was the family home and a bit of a "hub" where everyone in the family congregated, I felt I needed a memento. So I nicked the numbers from the front door. Amazing that I lived there for 20+ years, and visited my parents there for 20 more, and in all that time I never noticed that the numbers were slightly off-centre. I replaced the "stolen" ones with cheap ones from Wickes, and took the others home to put somewhere. I ended up putting them on one of the workbench legs, slightly off centre in a nod to the old house. Thanks for everything Mum and Dad - miss you.

If you can stick it together I'd be inclined to make a fibreglass mold and make a copy using fibreglass.

Confirmed by their Faceache post: As Dez states, PPC wasn't the highest quality publication and certainly had its faults (god-awful proof-reading a particular lowlight), but some of the articles were good, and Dave Walker's column was always worth a read. As we like to modify, there were numerous feature cars right up our street, as well as some utter horrors. I looked forward to seeing what crazy things somebody had built in a garage. As a business it hadn't moved with the Times and was obviously not making enough cash. I hope they haven't lost too much money as they seemed genuinely nice guys.

Sadly I think Practical Performance Car magazine's days are numbered.
Will Holman wrote in last month's edition that they were struggling and I have just had a notification that my subscription direct debit has been cancelled by Blockhead Media.
Shame. They always seemed to have a laugh with their projects and produced some fun articles. Plus it introduced the world to Charlie Bloomfield and his Meteor powered SD1, not to mention Will Holman's V8 Capri (RIP) and the Β£999 challenge.
Plus they featured my Midas which was a lovely surprise. I shall miss them.

The seat type looks early Mini but the upholstery is all wrong - the early Minis had for more ribs on the seat base, whereas these have only 6.

A few from the last couple of weeks: Orange Bay Window at the Car Boot: Tough-looking 5-series estate there as well. 65' Stang on steelies without caps, where the phone did a great impersonation of a particular root vegetable... Toyota Corolla, used and abused Plus the sort of neighbour us RRers would probably like to have next door. Love that Syncro!

Now, if you'd like to just continue to post pictures of epic customs and all about your awesome US trips and your amazing Land Yacht, that would be marvellous! THANK YOU! I've just been to Wales. Does that count? Well I suppose it's West, so it is kind of close π

So itβs now out of the way-ish on the concrete with the other heavy stuff. Another job jobbed. Nice to see that my old Midas trolley is still being put to good use - and it has still got the orange paint on it!!
