mr2fc I have a similar Clarke drill. It's very obviously a budget item built to a price, and is not a precision item, but for putting holes in stuff at home it is fine. Definitely bolt it to the bench though!

The duck tail spoiler on the white one is unusual. Not seen that on a Mini before.
Lots of K series swaps there too.

I did wonder.
Please make sure that you do as little as possible and rest up. It knocked me for 6.

I have done precious little on the Midas for the best part of 18 months. Mojo is slowly returning after the time away.
Take a bit of time out. That mojo will return 🙂

In theory my good friend is starting up garage night on Friday so I am looking forward to that massively. It's been 3 years (!) so I guess I am on garage food duties. His boy is now old enough to join us too Looking forward to that. Then I have a week off work next week so can do some tidying and spannering of my own. As Michael Ironside said in Total Recall: "It's about god d**n time!"

This is genuinely awesome. It's probably just as well I don't have this much technical know-how. My neighbours would have likely lynched me and I'd be divorced and broke.
Carry on!

Does it have to be a Zetec or Vauxhall 16v? MX5s were available in auto flavour and could do the same job? Plus you've got the whole package that you know works together.

One of the teacher's cars at Boarding School after the Hurricane in 1987. There was also a Mk3 Escort that was flattened but I am struggling to find it... Edit - here it is! Said teacher apparently burst into tears when he saw the damage because a) he'd just bought it and b) he hadn't actually sent off his insurance forms yet...

With regard to the £5 each offer, I would have probably gone for them IF I had a need for any the States, or thought any were good enough to replace what I already have. Most of the plates nowadays you see advertised on ebay and in online shops are generally £8.99 upwards unless they're really rough. You could take what you need and move the others on for £6-£7 each and not feel guilty. Or just buy what you need. If you didn't need any, I would have walked as well, as there aren't really any anything in that group that stands out other than maybe the Trailer one for me. They aren't calling to me.as they're not that special.

Mini run used to start in my local park when I lived in Crystal Palace. Always seemed an odd place for it to start, the drive out from Crystal Palace to the M25 was always horrible at the best of times. Was nice to have a car show/event I could walk to from my house though The Mini run I always liked doing was the Riviera Run. It started in 95 and went from one of the M4 services all the way down to Newquay. They changed which M4 services we met up at but I did 10 years of it and much preferred it to L2B for the very reasons mentioned: getting out of London is awful...

b) not full of people you don't want to travel with. Having to share space with poor people is inconvenient. Wasn't quite what I meant I was thinking more the planks, cranks and weirdos who always end up sitting next to me. Maybe I just attract them

It's a real shame if so. Lots of people go to these events and it's a little bit silly if they're planning on cancelling both the L2B Mini Run and the Speed Trials. I've not done the Speed Trials but I've been to the Mini Run on many occasions. Trouble is, Brighton is an absolute nightmare to drive in. If you're not on the run, you have to find somewhere to park and that usually means a very expensive stay in a car park or at a meter, or using Park and Ride. I really, REALLY hate using buses, as you have to rely on them being a) available and b) not full of people you don't want to travel with. As a breath of fresh air, not all coastal towns want to ban cars and car events. Clacton hosted a successful rally in the town and the surrounding area last year and it looks like it's back on again for this year as well. The Council recognised that having a few thousand people visiting is actually good for the town's tourism, restaurants and shops. Brighton and Hove appear to be a little short-sighted in this respect if the rumours are true. I bet the seaside shops and restaurants love it when a few thousand people turn up to watch cars as they will always spend money there. Where's that money coming from if they cancel?? People out for a stroll? Corbeau Seats Rally April 2023
