Has the stat got a bypass hole in it ? If not id drill a hole or two in it. Obviously you've ended up with an airlock in it some how so stick the plugs back in and fill it carefully and see how it goes next time.

Vapour blast. Its corroded so will need an abrasive clean rather than ultrasonic.

You need to know how many Amps it will draw (can be calculated from wattage or horsepower of the motor) I'd imagine a 16amp supply on 2.5mm will be sufficient tho.
You need to run a earth back to the distribution board. It is 'acceptable' but not ideal or recommend to use the cable armouring for this.
A netural won't be needed if it's just a motor but if there's anything electronic or 240v single phase on it you will need a neutral. It might be worth running one and putting a couple of rcd protected sockets on there anyway. They come in handy!

I have been toying with this as well. Riddle me this, how do all the other bills and rates etc factor into the costs? Well rates are free at the moment. Small business rates relif applys so long as the ratable value is sensible and you don't have another buisness premises already it's ok. It could change in future and it could be 3k a year at full wack for my unit but it is unlikely to change any time soon imo. Then it's electric, water, gas if you have it. Insurance about £400 a year for liability, building and 3k tool cover.. The good thing is once you have the space it gives so many oppetunities to make those costs back they don't really matter so much. The only limitation is your time.

One word. Buy! People seem to think it's unatainble. For some maybe it is but if you have £100s a month to pay out on rent for a place you should think about putting it to better use. I bought here in Birmingham for 75k. The unit is 24x6m with space for 3 cars outside. It's not the cleanest and most organised estate but that plays into your favour really as you don't get any complaints about what you're up to. It took a couple of years of searching before this place came up but here in the West Mids the places do come up, you just have to fight off all the dodgey asian landlords who want to start up a weed farm buisness and that sort of thing! In the countryside i guess it's harder to find somthing similar as most small units are on farms but for a city dweller it's worth looking into. I'm looking to buy another to rent out to 'car types' as soon as i can afford it..

Two or three are easy as pie. Just like a sparkplug. At least one is a bit of a pig to get access to however. If you change the easy ones you might find it solves the issue and the hard to get to one can be ignored.

Sell it. It's not a hard car to get again should you feel the need. You will probably realise how much of a ball and chain these things are once it's gone.

I've answers a few questions like this on here lately. What it boils down to is you need a compressor that's much bigger than you can run off single phase domestic electrics and a good £1000 to invest in a decent pot etc. I think the best you can hope for at home is a small cabinet for Doing small parts or a little recircilating gun for doing small spots on bodywork etc.

Why on earth do you need it to swivel? You have the perfect vice right there if you ask me! Won't break that in a hurry.

The bottom line is you simply can't get enough energy out of your battery to make any difference to cold starting. Glowplugs only work as the fuel is sprayed directly at them more or less. They are there to help ignite it rather than warm it before hand.
Try adding petrol instead of diesel Its both cheaper and better at thinning. You should easily get away with 10% petrol on an XUD.
