With a small rad like Andy's, a shroud covering the whole rad is fine. However, not so good on a wider rad, IMO. I started with a shroud covering the whole rad: Very pleased with the result. However, after some thought and discussions with people who know a lot more about the subject than me, it was decided that this wasn't the best idea. This would be fine at slow speeds, but not at high velocities as air flow would be very restricted by it all having to pass through the fan. So we modified it to only shroud the fan, leaving the rad able to have free flowing air through it. Worth thinking about.

Started to make a TODO list, always a scary thing to do as they are never ending.
In no particular order:
Fit handle to driver's door Cut and fit door polycarbonate windows Fit front and rear screens Fit wiper assembly Complete interior (all carbon) Secure passenger seat. Weighs less than 1kg so will need some support Add a couple of tubes to roll cage behind seats to make it FIA compliant Decide on wheel sizes and tyres Bleed brakes Set up suspension and steering (caster, camber, toe etc) Set ride height Fit door net Make and fit propshaft loop (shroud) Finish body and spray (Colour and design a secret :-) ) Fit lights Finish underfloor panels Secure pedal box (need to do this before car goes to GPR) Check and tighten every nut and bolt (mark when done) Secure Nitrous bottle in boot Repack and fit parachute Buy and fit race harnesses Fit wheelie bar Etc.....

-) Well, my Mojo died for a while as the task was just taking too long. However, now that I have taken the leap to have someone else work on my car (albeit my Son) I feel a weight has been lifted from my shoulders and I am looking forward to the car going and coming back running, even if my wallet will be a lot lighter :-)

Glad to see that you are back on here and restarting the project. When the engine fires up I'm sure that will further inspire you! That's the plan. Up until now I have resisted this route as I thought that I would then rush the rest in order to get on to the track. I have now realised that it has actually been holding me back.

Don't forget to also grease the steel sleeve, unless you like the squeak and excessive wear :-)

Yes, he is. I have known Geoff for many years (he built my engine). He was looking for a lad to do basic stuff so I recommended Alex. He is now in charge of the workshop where their main work is on 1980s F1 cars and RS200s.

One thing mentioned by Geoff was the proximity of the propshaft joint to my backside :-) Approx 100mm! Suggestion was to line chassis with 3mm steel sheet (forces aren't anywhere near those of an exploding flywheel so 6mm not necessary). However this is rather heavy at 1.5kg for the shield so looking at using UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene), the type of polyethylene used in protection armour. Even at 6mm thick this weighs only 365gms and is only £7 more expensive. You know me and weight :-) Anyone had any experience with this material?

Hi, anyone still on here? Since mid 2020 I have done very little work on the car, a combination of going mad with it at the start of lockdown, then building an entertainment suite in the barn along with a putting course and a mini golf course, not forgetting the go kart track. After the first couple of minutes it is rather repetitive :-) However, I have come to the conclusion that I will never finish the car without help. So, the car is going in to Geoff Page Racing to have the wiring commissioned and the engine fired up. My son, who works there, will be in charge of the work so no worries there. Once it gets there (they are full at the moment) it should take less than 2 weeks before I have a car that starts. I can then get on with the rest of the stuff needed and will have a strong incentive :-) Won't be cheap but will be worth it. Current State of Play: I will keep you abreast of progress.

Update on ill-fitting door.

Whilst working on the warped door, I got to thinking why it happened. The door carcass is pure carbon with only two layers, so weighed just under 1Kg. However, this lightness had a downside. I reckon that since I made it approx two years ago the carbon has destressed/relaxed into its final shape. If so, that is good as the remedial work should be permanent. The passenger door hasn't warped at all, I reckon because there is a fibreglass skeleton of the original door to which I attached the carbon panels (why aren't they the same? Long story :-) ) which has held the door stable.
Remedial work is coming along nicely.
