Honestly Id just put a bit of timber (or correctly sized angle iron) behind the batteries at the top. Although you're putting diagonal pressure on the batteries it's still exerting a rearward force on them causing the tip.

How about spray on contact adhesive, either that or not wasting it and just double sided tape it on top of the new stuff for some extra deadening

You can see it at the lights, the usual suspect draws up and thinks ach its just an old VW, I'm gonna bl.... WTAF? I can't wait to see this finished, but at the same time I don't want to see it finished if that makes any kind of sense (it doesn't to me)

I have a massive soft spot for these odd little cars, and they're defo not seen often enough on forums. What's your long term plans once you dry it in? I'm assuming some sort of sound insulation attempt to dull the engine noise down will be made if you're thinking about a radio then just put miles on it and grin like a happy mad man

Bloody hell what an adventure, Poor Stevie (at least you knew what you were getting into ) But seriously now, I'm glad that you made it there safely and had a fantastic if slightly expensive story to tell us.

Apologies for going slightly off topic (Hey you brought the food up ) Thanks for the idea on sticky sausages, I found a recipe and the wife and daughter are very interested in trying it out (we need a thumbs up smiley) Back to topic, I have been subscribed for a long time and thoroughly enjoy your posts but I have to say over and above all the other amazing work... your bathroom is incredible and will be a lovely space to while away the time in the bath with a book and a glass of your favourite relaxant. Thanks for sharing all your hard work and struggles with us

I just bought an XJC British Racing Green V12 and have the Broadspeed body kit. I absolutely need these rims. How do I get them? The member who's thread you are replying to hasn't been online since May 2016 and it's not very likely that you will get a result from a 6 year old dead thread.. but good luck anyway

If you're getting all the vital ingredients, could it be timing or even mixed up spark plug leads firing on the wrong cylinders?

Many moons ago, as a child living in The Midlands, I can recall often seeing lorry chassis with effectively no cab, merely an excuse for a small front panel, being driven on the roads using Trade-Plates. The driver of said vehicle would be clad in what I would guess would have been ex-WWII flying gear, accompanied by leather flying helmet and goggles; rather a vain attempt to combat the conditions experienced, whilst perched atop of a single seat, which was the only nod to creature comforts.. You could always go back to the good old days, and don't bother with a cab. I don't think that there would be much call for facilities to accommodate and passengers though. An old lad (Now long passed away) I used to drink with worked at Albion Motors in Glasgow, he used to tell funny and frightening stories about this exact thing,, he said even in the hot summer days it was a bitterly cold job

It looked great before you unwrapped it, and it doesn't look too bad after it either thankfully this little bit of remedial work right now will save you lots more in the future and ensure the value of your van remains high. looking forward too seeing the rest, best of luck with it all

That calculator is fantastic, I do love the simple design of what would no doubt have been an extremely expensive item when it was new

Personally I think in time to come a Mk2 with original numbers will be more desirable because they're becoming scarcer. If you're going to keep the car I would invest in the engine, but if you're going to flip it then it doesn't really matter just get it running with another block

I'm looking forwards to seeing this progress, Ive always loved the SD1 even though its a big heavy car the diesel makes it the ideal luxury mile muncher.
However I'm going to commit some absolute burn at the stake heresy here,,, but I think one of the modern BMW straight 6 diesels (N57 or B57) would make it a car you could just cruise around the world twice in....

Bob I think the only thing that could ever outshine the amazing work you've done to this old lady is the work of a good signwriter... (A dying trade sadly being replaced by vinyl printers)
My god I honestly cannot wait to see this on wheels and driving around!
