You know you've landed on your feet when on your first day you are asked to work on the 'ugly turd' of a '32 Rolls Royce ;D Congratulations on the new job and thanks for sharing pics

Bet them they can't do it and see if they bite? Tell them you'll offer cash, don't want a receipt, happy to accept that you are personally liable for the nuns and kittens and not them?
I've never had a problem. I've never actually asked for stretched tyres though. I just tell them the size I want and give them some wheels. I reckon you'll fare better if you just ask them to fit some tyres rather than asking them to stretch some tyres.

If you end up using aerosols to cover it up.. Graffiti paint seems to generally better quality and better priced than automotive stuff. I really like the Montana Black range though the ethics of the company's origins are apparently a bit shaky. It doesn't hugely bother me as the two companies seem to coexist well enough now and the past doesn't appear to have had a detrimental effect on either.. I've ordered from here before and been very happy.

The deadline thing I know all too well and absolutely refuse to have a fixed deadline for my fun car now.. The picture of your dismayed face is fantastic though Wish I could have stayed for more than one night. Early night (only 2ish ) and away very early in the morning wasn't ideal but glad I could make it to see everyone and have a kebab!

The only thing I can add to this is - I once had an Anglia 105e that had been off the road many years with 14k genuine. It would start and run no problems but it had similiar symptoms to what your describing. I'd rebuilt petrol pump and still no joy as well as replaced all the usual. As a last resort I decided the only thing I hadn't done was changed the fuel line. So I fitted a new 1/4 " copper fuel line as per original and it was spot on. When I cut through the original fuel line the pipe had been restricted as over the years with it being stood and fuel 'going off' the internal diameter was half what it should be. New line on and it rang like a dream and still does to this day .. Other than that I cant think of owt. As it's carb'd, it'd be really easy to test that theory with a length of fuel hose and a jerrycan too... What is the solenoid meant to do? I'm sure my old Fiesta had a cutoff solenoid on the carb that was meant to stop it from running on? If it's similar, that not operating properly could explain a lack of proper idling. Maybe

Wikipedia suggests that the caddy is only a grille and some badges different from the caddy so presumably an Inca, and therefore an Ibiza wing would fit. You'll need to check further but its something to go from

could do with a ruddy turbo though! . Everyone did tell you I'd get a secondhand wing. Don't forget that they are not the same as 6N Polo hatchbacks as they are based on a Seat so you will need one from a Caddy (obviously ;D ), or an estate or Saloon Mk4 Polo.

Legal. As specified in the Road Vehicle lighting regulations 1989 (I think). Sidelights must be white unless it uses the same yellow lens/housing as a headlight.

OK. But I'm going to stick by my previous comments. I have previously, and currently own a vehicle with similar power/top speed/low gearing (though not with a CVT) and quite frankly, it's dangerous on modern roads without any extra weight being dragged along behind it as well You would legally (without doing the trailer test) be able to tow a small trailer, this one, to demonstrate my previous Halfords reference, would be about your limit based on the manufacturer's info you've provided.

I love my 10 so my very biased view is that it is a good idea ;D
Ignoring rust problems and recent MOT failure, my main concerns are the horrendous lack of any power and the abundance of twee-ness. Glad to see you've gone for it ;D

I don't mean to be negative about the idea, but will it really be safe to tow with a car that has a 30+ second 0-60? With a couple passengers and a trailer it would be dangerously slow.. What's it plated to tow? Don't forget that it doesn't relate to the actual weight of the trailer, but its maximum laden weight, so I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't legally able to drag anything bigger than the little trailers outside halfords.

Our house fund is still severely lacking I will be at the gathering. I also have some standard Standard 10 wheels should you want a little and large set or to get the others done. As above, make me an offer and have some really cool 13s for the back of your MGF

I thought it would be best to check my Gathering Brew before lugging a couple dozen bottles of something nasty about. I needn't have worried Next to a bottle of Old Speckled Hen to show colour and clarity Sediment sitting well at the bottom, probably due to the yeast I used ( Youngs Super Wine Yeast Compound) containing a high proportion of Bentonite, it sticks pretty well to the bottom. And from this, you should be able to see that it's primed well, and that I didn't swear or spit it out upon trying it Ideally it could do with sitting for longer, but it will be fine for drinking in a couple weeks (it's not bad now!). Pretty dry, about 6-7%abv and with a pretty good flavour, though the summer fruits stuff hasn't added much to it that is noticable. This post is because I got home from holiday this afternoon and found my wrist band. Excited ;D

What about white on black show plates? Second guessing HC's logic is mind bending, but if I backward engineer the reasons.. Black letters on white plates is reminiscent of German plates, but it's a UK car, so using UK font is a nice touch. You'd only have to buy one extra plate rather than two, and it could end up looking too dark and like you're trying to do a 'murdered out' car if you went white on black rather than various shades of monotone. The magnets are an excellent touch. Is there any risk of scratching your permanent plate though? May be worth putting something very thin and soft over each of the magnets on the show plate?

Oddly, I fail to differentiate retro from classic, aside from possibly if/how it has been modified, so most of the stuff people here see as retro I see as 'an old car'.
I have to agree on the technology point though. Carbs and points disappearing is a very definitive cut off.

...The key is to not introduce oxygen when syphoning to FV2 otherwise you run the risk of introducing an infection or killing the yeast too early. This is why I avoid opening, sniffing, gravity testing or transferring unless I feel I have to.. I just use one of those syphoning sticks with a cup on the bottom to avoid picking up the sediment. I normally do OK as long as I don't slip! Wines tend to get racked once and beers and ciders not at all. I used to rack cider but it doesn't seem to suffer for being sat on the yeast for a few weeks. Thanks for sharing your reasonings/methods

I'm interested to know what improvement there is when using mineral water over tap water and in racking it off before bottling. I know it's fairly important to rack wines to avoid off flavours but with a beer over such a short period of time, I didn't think it would make much difference? Or is that more for the avoidance of picking up sediment in bottling?
