So just to confirm guys the engine did 6000 miles in the westy , no idea on the mileage when I bought it ! Sorry for the confusion . Tonite we finished stripping the crank out and the main shells were pretty knackered too , Crank looks great though and the general condition in the engine is very clean so as suggested the maintenance has been good . Heads stripped as well , the valves are pretty carboned up but do not look like they have been blowing . Valve seats all look good . The head ports are poor , I wonder how well the engine reacts with a bit of porting ? Exhaust port is tiny !! Also started cleaning up the engine bay as well .

You guys are a bad influence ๐๐๐ To be honest the car does not need any more power !!! Itโs such fun and sounds so different with the under car exhaust

Thanks for the info , I always new it was a special engine , just looking at the exhaust Gaskets there is loads to take out to match the baskets ! Guess itโs time to get the grinding kit out ! The cast manifolds are not bad but the exhaust ports out the head are pretty small compared to the gasket !!

Well spotted guys , yes itโs a ex police car twin plenum engine ๐๐ The cam followers look hydraulic!!
engine has been stood for 6 years and to be honest I love building engines ๐๐ Itโs a rare engine so did not want to risk it , just going to polish the crank , new bearings , hone the bores with new rings . Heads are going to be rebuilt with new guides ect then it all put back together like brand new ๐

Ok so Chapter 2 . Roll on 18 years , in that time I moved house , built a Ultima , bought a Noble , Raced a Noble and became British champion and had a life changing Kidney transplant ๐๐ May this year I get a phone call from a old mate , have not see him in years and he wants me to buy my Westfield V8 back ๐ฑ๐ฑ only problem is he has broken the Gearbox and itโs not run in 6 years !!!! Iโm sceptical at first , itโs going to be pretty tired after 18 years .....................or so I thought ๐คช๐คช Quick chat with the boss and we decide to go and have a look , we turned up at Johnโs house (old mate) and the insulated roller garage door is down , as we walk up the drive the garage door starts to rise , curse word my heart is beating bloody quick , the V8 was a car I loved and I was gutted to sell it !!! What sort of condition will it be in ? Simple answer .........flipping awesome ๐ we sold her with 3000 miles on the clock she had now done 6000 miles , never been out in the rain , never been left in the sunshine !!!!!! Back in love again ๐๐

So scrolling back to 1998 we decided to build our first Kit car ......now letโs be honest we have all seen rubbish kit car builds and thatโs not me so a trip to the Westfield factory was arranged to check out the quality !! Westfield quickly put my mind at ease and we ordered a 2 litre pinto kit with wide body and a V8 bonnet in bright red ๐๐ it was a great car to build and I hand built a 2 litre Pinto running twin 40 Webberโs , it was brilliant but the crazy man inside of me wanted a V8 Westfield !!! The sound oh my god epic !! V8 Westfield kits in 1999 were special build only and Richard at Westfield needed a pinto Demo car so a deal was done but not just a std V8 westy , I wanted it too be special ! Spec was a wide body with independent rear suspension , Bigger Brakes on the front , engine oil cooler , front ARB , I also wanted to go for fuel injection and did not want the side pipes !!! So September 2000 we collected our V8 kit and got cracking , the build was Awesome ๐ I still think itโs one of the best cars I had ever built !! Over the summer of 2001 we entered various event including the big Westfield owners club summer meet at Curborough , I was delighted to win Best engine bay and best Bodywork ๐๐ The Car was simply stunning to drive sounded awesome and was very quick !!! In Oct of 2001 we decided to move house and I had to realise we had to sell the V8 to raise funds , I was gutted ๐ฉ luckily I had a friend who loved the car and offered me a serious amount of dosh for it so I let it go .......... watching it disappear down the road was a gutting experience!!!
Thats chapter 1 ...............anybody interested in chapter 2 ?

Thanks guys , a fantastic night and again made very welcome by everybody at Time Attack . Dawns dress was a fantastic colour match to the Noble and I had a bow tie made in matching material ๐๐ Health is going ok , still working on my fitness and coping well with the side effects of the tablets but doing well . Noble is tucked up for the winter waiting for me to make my mind up what we do in 2019 . I have another project underway at the moment . Post will be up soon ๐ Stay safe Tux Sneak peek ๐ฑ

Well itโs the end of a era !!! Last Sunday at Rockingham was my last Time Attack event , we have decided to stop at the end of this year mainly to have a bit more time but also on some health grounds !! Leading up to Rockingham I was nervous , more so than normal !! The Noble was all ready but I had a odd feeling , not dread but a growing concern about the last round ! Rockingham is my local track and we are quick around it but the talk of rain had reminded me how dangerous it is when itโs wet !! Add to that we still needed a good result to hold onto 2nd in the championship and the pressure was on ! We travelled up sat night and signed in ect rewards fir Sunday , the weather was stunning , warm and sunny just the way we like it ! Sunday morning 3 oโclock and I was waken by heavy rain on the Moho roof ๐ฑ this set the scene for one of the toughest days driving the Noble I had ever had ! Sunday morning arrived and it was hammering down , nothing we could do but fit my wets , soften all the suspension and increase the rear wing for a bit more rear downforce ! First practise and the Noble was up for it , plenty of grip and great stability around the banking ment we could push and we topped the timing sheets with a 1.59 lap !! Little did we know that things would change for the worst ๐ฉ Out for qualifying after lunch and suddenly things got serious , the grip had gone , 2 big lockupโs and a spin startled me and I realised the day was finished . Trying to control 500 bhp with no traction control was crazy , everytime I brought in some boost the rear wheels would spin , the Noble was not happy ๐ข track temp had dropped massively this totally destroyed our grip and ment it was a case of hanging on . Qualified 3rd and to cut a story short finished 3rd in the final !!! Confirmation of 2nd in the championship. I was so relieved to put the Noble in the garage in one piece Sunday night !!! Whatโs next ? No idea letโs see where 2019 takes us ! Thanks for the support this year guys , itโs been incredible. Tux

Bloody hell, best part of 12 seconds overall. That is a leap. Good luck with the R&R and I'm guessing (hoping ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) ) I'll be waiting for the next instalment. Well there is something coming , sideways step from the Noble but very cool ๐
