I don't mean this sarcastically, (I'm saying that because I don't know what your every day employment is,) but that is a beautiful job that looks completely professional, The standard of your work is first class, Nigel Hi there thanks for the compliment. I have been building campers for over thirty years on and off and enjoy the challenge. I worked as an operations planner for 30 years but retired at 50 due to poor health so now just potter about building and renovating campers and motorhomes. Cheers - mike

hi all got back onto this yesterday. I made and fitted the kitchen worktop and did the final fit of the kitchen. Spent most of this morning wiring up the 12v system so that's now finished. I have got a rescue mission to go on later so that's it for today. Tomorrow should see the 240v system fitted and checked and the wardrobe fitted. Cheers - mike

Hi all, have had a steady week on the camper. She's starting to come together now and the end is in sight. All the units are made apart from the wardrobe front panel and I have started the final fit out. I spent most of wednesday taking 75mm out of the height of the seat as there was virtually no head room, its better now but still snug. I'm away later for a week on my boat so no updates for a while. Cheers - mike

hi there
I make all the units myself. Most of the kits you can buy are poor quality and need profiling to suit.

I have made and fitted the the kitchen unit door so that's finished now.
Tomorrow morning should see me making the templates for the wardrobe end panels.

Hi all I started a camper build on a Htundai i800 earlier this week. Its the first one of these and is quite different to the other vehicles I convert as its rear wheel drive. So far I have removed all the rear seats and stripped out the flooring. Removing the seats was a real nightmare as the bolts holding them dowm protrude throught the floor so were really rusted plus the heads are really soft so round off as soon as you put any torque on them. The new ply floor and flooring are down, the rock and roll bed has been trial fitted and I have started making the units. The rock and roll bed is going to need modifying as there's not enough head room to sit in it due to the high floor. Cheers - mike

Glad to see you got rid of the Twin and Earth, vehicles should always be stranded cable. Another vote for the Splitcharge website great service Thanks, I see people using it all the time. Stranded cable should be used in all vehicles cars, campers and boats etc. Dangerous wiring is the most common problem thats I see on campers and boats. I rewired a mercedes camper a few weeks back were the wiring ran through a double skinned void in a wardrobe wall with unfused feeds going from the battery nearly 8 ft to the control panel with fuses behind a wooden panel. There had been a short on the wiring had overheated for around a 8ft section, the owner was very lucky that there hadn't been a fire. I also regularly see cable of the wrong size and incorrect fuse ratings or no fuses at all and am surprised that more vehicles don't do up in flames. Cheers - mike

Hi all had a steady day on the camper today. I went over to grimsby for some foam, there seems to be a shortage at the moment, not sure why. I finessed the fitting of the boards and added some supports and stiffeners to the units. The first to cushions are done bar some tidying up underneath and tomorrow should see the rest done. Cheers - mike

I'm looking for a split charger for my caddy so I can put in a second battery for an inverter, any recommendations? Thanks splitcharge.co.uk sell everything you need. You need a fuse before the feed into the split charge relay and one just before the leisure battery. I usually fit a 140 amp relay and a pair of 12v 60amp trips. Cheers - mike

hi all had a steady day and the camper today. The mains hookup and 12v set up are now finished and working. I have made a mount / shelf unit for the side of the van so I can fit the 240v outlet and the switch for the lights. I have to go over to Grimsby tomorrow to sort out some foam for the upholstery as my on-line supplier has let me down. Cheers - mike

Hi all I have just started the rebuild of a Peugeot Partner camper. Spent the afternoon stripping out the existing units and conversion. The wiring for the mains hookup and 12v system was in a terrible state. The hole for the mains inlet looked as though it had been cut with a blunt can opener and the wiring was solid cored 5 amp light cable so totally unsuitable for this application and the whole 240v system was un fused. I removed the mains inlet, straightened out the hole and cleaned it up as best I could before giving the area a coat of stone guard before refitting it with decent 16 amp cable. The old mains outlet will be replaced with one with and rcd. I wont get much done tomorrow as I have a Mercedes camper coming to have all the 12v system rewired and upgraded. Cheers - mike
