Hi all, since my Renault traffic is now sold and with its new owner I thought I had better start one of my Bongo fleet. This one is quite rare as its a manual gearbox and 4 wheel drive. She's been stood a while so will need a full service. So far I have repaired the split charge system, replaced the main battery, cleaned and sterilised the water system and fully valeted the interior. She has a problem with the stop solenoid in as much as she wont stop once started and she is lacking boost so there's a couple of issues to sort. Anyways she should be done by the end of the week and up for sale. ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/b2_zpssawvfqi8.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/b4_zpsvutcqwjc.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/b3_zps5hpqksom.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0091_zpsut6fsii0.jpg)

I spent yesterday rebuilding the water heater and what a pain that was. I put it all back together and pressure tested it and it was fine. Re-filled the water tank with 20 gallons of fresh water and bled the system up. I then popped down the street for a chat with a neighbour. After about 15 mins we noticed quite a torrent of water running down the gutter and it seemed to be coming from my drive! Ran back up the street to find the water pump going for all it was worth,an empty water tank and a camper full of water. I like to add a few extras but there's not much call for a swimming pool. Have had water running out of everywhere today, sills, chassis the lot. Anyways she's now just about dry and as I build with external grade ply there's no damage done. Finished the bed earlier and the mounts for the table so apart from a wash she's ready to go to her new owner. Have got a couple of other projects before starting the next full conversion. Have been running around in her all week and she's been great. Have now done the flooring and made and fitted the table. One small problem though, the water heater has decided to leak which is a pain. I have a new o ring and seal kit for it so not the end of the world. Got another vivaro to view next week, a long wheel base/hi roof so this one will have a bathroom. Got some units made for my Bongos plus a spare set for ebay. ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0079_zpsfmxcadec.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0077_zpswhzdzznb.jpg)

hi there
I have run quite a few cf campers over the years (been at it for over 30 years) and they are great vans. Much nicer than the equivalent transit.
One draw back with the propex heater is the noise. They always seem to be mounted in a seat / bed box.
I usually try to put them in the bottom of the wardrobe or kitchen unit.
Great van though,Adrian Bailey in leeds is the man for parts.

I had a few viewings on the van on Friday and she's now sold.
I have a few upgrades / bits to finish for the new owner.
Had a trip away fishing in her yesterday and she was great apart from a slight leak on the water heater so that will have to be rebuilt with new o'rings.
The new owner wants a island table making to match the work tops, the sliding part of the be needs trimming up to match the rest of the camper and a service/new rear pads.
Once all the bits have been finished I will post some finished pics.
Will be sad to see her go but starting a Bongo on Tuesday which is already sold.
Cheers - mike

Finished the roof lining a few mins ago and gave here a quick hoover out. I have the extending part of the bed and flooring left to do plus minor bits of trim. The flooring should have been here today but no sign yet so I may pop into town tomorrow and have a look at whats available. Going to do the sums later and work out what she's cost me!! shouldn't be to bad though. All being well I should be starting a Mazda Bongo on Monday. ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0073_zps0fufpfgo.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0071_zpsug9ydfdt.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0070_zpswm5h058q.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0069_zpsuxffisqj.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0068_zpsemeywrq9.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0066_zps66yjaqyb.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0065_zpsgjk4pdud.jpg)

I finished fitting the roof vent yesterday as I was rained of on Tuesday. Have now cut and fitted the first tow roof lining panels so just one left to go. Hopefully the last panel should be finished later today. I can then do the final fit on the roof and fit the roof light blind. Just waiting fir the flooring to arrive now, black sparkly stuff!! ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0059_zpsjrs5m0yb.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0060_zpsyueyqcil.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0062_zpsyrbe99j8.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0063_zpsayo4xj3u.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0064_zpsula7w6ig.jpg)

Spent the afternoon cutting the hole for the roof vent. It was a bit of a curse word as the roofs not flat and the jigsaw blades kept snapping. Finally got it cut out though and then made all the hardwood spacers needed to make the roof level, These have been bonded in with polyurethane adhesive so I should be able to fit the vent tomorrow and then make and fit the roof lining. The roof lining will be made in three pieces, a front middle and rear. Have booked a campsite near a good pub and good fishing for Sat night for its first night away. Can't wait to try it out. ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0047_zpss3hn22gl.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0049_zpsxeb7q8md.jpg) ![](http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m228/mrmikekavanagh/IMG_0048_zpsltstxq0z.jpg)

Well i'm back from the sunny costa del sol, feeling a bit cold working outside today. Anyway I got stuck in and finished the under bed cupboard. Got the roof vent to fit this afternoon. I'm always a bit nervous about cutting the big hole in the roof though so will have some brave pills with my lunch. Fitting the roof vent is the last big job with just the flooring and roof lining left, then a good clean through and new rear pads and a service for the van and she can go up for sale. Got 2 mazda Bongo's to convert before the end of March so a busy month ahead.

Got a few more bits done on the camper. Fitted a new mixer tap to the sink. Finally finished the door for the kitchen unit and got it mounted so that's the kitchen area finished. Made the panel and door to finish of the under seat / bed storage area. Not fitted yet though as I need the modify the frame as there's currently a support right in the middle of where the door will be. No problem sorting it though. Went for a sneaky hours fishing in her this morning, ran the fridge and hot water and had a cup of tea. Really happy with how she's coming along. Off to the sunny costa del sol for a week in the morning so won't get anything done for a while. Hi there
I would go with a sticking exhaust valve.
My daughter has had several ka's whilst at uni and all have had a similar issue if left standing for a few months. Two out of three have burnt an exhaust valve. Strangely, both were on number 3 cylinder.

As I had a few mins after the mot I did a few more jobs. The area under the front cupboard needed finishing so made up a ply panel and lined it with carpet. Had to carpet some of the plastic panel as well as I couldn't get the area above the sliding door channel to look right.Anyways its done and fitted and looks good. I have left a channel behind this trim so I can fit a strip of leds. I have made and fitted the from to support the rooflight. I wanted a good fit as it needs to support the roof lining as well so the frame is quite heavy. The sides also needed cutting in about 10 degrees to match the stiffeners on the van roof. Have also taken a pic of my finished cutlery drawer. Hopefully the rooflight will arrive tomorrow so I can get it and the roof lining finished. Just one more door to finish and hang tomorrow and all the major work is done. Still to do is fit a mixer tap when it arrives, finalise and make the sliding part of the bed,fit the black sparkly flooring and one or two bits to line with carpet. Boiled the kettle and ran the fridge today. Need to get her away for a trip to test properly though. Spent the morning getting the van ready for mot.
Had to sort out some issues with the rear lights. A length of speaker wire had been run from the drivers side, across the roof to the passenger side as the passenger side earth was u/s.
Took a couple of minutes to trace the earth point and give it a clean! I cannot understand why people play with electrics when they haven't a clue whats wrong.
Gave here a good thrash along the m62 and then in for test.
Passed first time with one advisory for a slightly corroded brake pipe. Cleaned the muck off and its like new.Now coated with coppaslip.
Got lots of small jobs to do now whilst I'm waiting for the rooflight to arrive.
Will update with some pics later.
Cheers - mike

Didn't get much done over the weekend.
Its was just too cold and i'm still getting over a bout of walking pneumonia, Of to the costa del sol at the end of the week so trying to get it finished by Friday.
Have finished and tested the gas system and it now ok. Previous builder had used the wrong olives and packed them with ptfe to try and get them to seal.
Had an hour tidying up the leisure battery area, fuse box and wiring earlier. Have made a lid / cover for the leisure battery, just got to mount it now. I have also had the water heater running after giving it a good clean out. The burner was full of cob webs and spider eggs and the whole assembly was looking the worse for wear.
Picked up a strip of blue leds over the weekend and will maybe mount them hidden above the main worktop.
Finally gave the van a wash, first time since November and she was filthy. She's come up nice and clean. Thought it was best as she's going in for mot later this week.
She should pass but i have never been completely happy with the brakes. They work really well but always feel a bit soft when driving even though the pedal is rock solid when stood with the engine off. She's fitted with abs and emergency brake assist so maybe its this that's throwing me.
I have got to go over to Rotherham to collect some more wall board tomorrow as I need another sheet of cherry to finish this van and a hew sheets of dark ash for the Bongo i'm converting.
Will hopefully get some more pics tomorrow as she's really starting to come together now.
Cheers - mike

Had a productive day today despite the weather.
The split charge system is up and running, the rear voltmeter shows 14.4v when the engines running.
Had some bother with one of the fluorescent lights not wanting to work so have swapped it for a spare one for now.
All the wiring is now finished for both the main and 12v systems, all p clipped and secured in place.
The cutlery drawer is now finished with an insert for the knives and forks etc, 99p from wilko's.
I have a fair few bits left to do, the two main ones are make the base for the extending part of the bed and fit a heki roof vent and roof lining.
Struggling to get a Mini Heki at the right price so may fit a Fiamma wind up vent instead.
Will take some more pics tomorrow, camera didn't want to play today.
Cheers - mike
