uniroyal are good value, wear quick, but grip is superb (they are a sub brand of continental. Falkens are good, kumhos have always been good in my experience and I have been impressed with the avon zv5s on my bmw. All fairly cheap to buy from camskil or mytyres. All of the above I have used on rwd cars and have nothing but praise for them given their price.

You want a random da polisher. have a look on cleanyourcar.co.uk. Expect to pay around £100. Well worth the money. Don't by a rotary polisher, you will only end up burning your paint, being a newbie.

Then I have to book time off work, which means a days holiday wasted. A day I could use to spend time with my family instead. Then there is the wrapping of them, which from past experience is a total pain in the expletive. I'd much rather someone came and viewed them, so they know exactly what they are buying. Pictures can sometimes make things look better than they are in reality. Women seem to suffer this problem for example!! If they don't sell, I'll just keep them.

ok, not really retro, but that shed on wheels is actually a vw passat, minus most of the original body. It's a very impressive build!

Drove past this on the way back from collecting some wheels. Really must make a point of going up there soon. Always great sport and a brilliant drive to get there. I don't live far away from Prescott and some of the back roads nearby are stunningly good fun, scenic too.

Must be different rules this side of the pond! Where are you based then kev? Maybe there are different rules and regs? All I know is that the paintshop at bmws mini plant were very stringent about minimising risk to their workers who were involved with the use of isocyanates. Without all the right gear I'd be very reluctant to use it at home in a regular garage with no extraction system. Even if I did have the gear, people near by wouldn't and I couldn't put someone else at risk.

Isocyanates in the hardener, that's why. It isn't just you that you have to consider when home spraying. Will you be buying your neighbours a mask too?! I used to work at cowley. None of the spray painters used anything other than an air fed mask. Anything else wasn't allowed due to health risks.

no, you don't normally. It is normally a single stage system. Is it possible to use lacquer over the top, I'm not sure in all honesty. Hopefully someone else will be able to advise on this......

personally I would go with celly or 1k acrylic for one reason and one reason alone. 2k, whilst superior in almost every way, has one major downfall, it's a somewhat dangerous substance to work with and needs an air fed mask to apply it safely. I know people say you can get away with high quality vapour masks, but would i want to risk it? I have to say no. Non metalic celly is easy to work with, just mix 50/50 with high gloss thinners and you won't go far wrong. Yes it requires more care to maintain the finish, otherwise it will oxidise and go dull, but I've managed to keep my mx5s wings looking decent 5 years after spraying them. 1k, will require colour and clearcoat, so is a bit trickier to use, but not massively so. link to a similar thread full of decent advice www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/diy-car-painting-help.17839/

Good prep is key (not easy when the whole reason you are welding is due to rust, so finding clean metal that isn't waffer thin is a game in itself). Getting the welders setting right is another key thing. If you don't have a table to go by, then using similar thickness scrap metal to practice on is a good way to get the settings right. Gas vs gasless: Gas is a whole lot easier to work with providing you aren't out in the open with thw wind blowing the gas away. Gasless is much trickier, produces a hotter weld, which means more chance of blowing holes in thin metal. However is useful if you're working in a windy environment. Theres also the slag to deal with which needs cleaning off, which is a bit of a pain. A good weld should make a continuous crackle sound. If you get a popping sound the settings aren't right. worth a read: www.hobartwelders.com/elearning/

If you can measure the side of the seat base (across, and front to back), the width of the runners, and the height of the seat, I'll put them on the Fiat Panda pages, as they look like they could be a good upgrade, and also means you get some dosh for them Updated my ebay listing Front seats: The width of the mount holes on the seat to which the subframes mount is 41cm approx Mounts on the seats are 34 cm approx apart along the length of each side of the seat, so they are 34 long x 41cm wide to give you an idea if fitting to another car other than a 323 Seats measure approx 90cm tall, 55cm wide and 60cm long Rear seats: Base: 128cm x 55 approx back rest: 116cm x 55cm approx Front seats are flat bottomed, so would bolt into pretty much anything providing there is enough width in the car recieving them.

I think if you manage to get £5-600 you'll be doing well. If I were looking to buy a mk3 golf of that sort of spec, i'd be reluctant to give more than £400 for it. They aren't desirable in the same way a mk2 is. The only mk3s showing any signs of increasing in value are unmolested gti and vr6 models. Even cabrios are still dirt cheap. Guess that probably wasn't what you were hoping to hear?
