Ive also sorted some wheels, YAY. they are still steelies but in 14inch flavour as opposed to the 13s this is rolling on and i think will suit banding quite nicely. They have been collected on a favour by one of the chaps i work with and he should be dropping by the office thursday next week so i should have them then. They are off a Spanish renault 8. Love those steels with the domed centres. They remind me of a 2cv wheel but more bulbous. they are quite cool, had the 15 inch versions on my dauph, they look to be threaded in the centre too so i can fit metal dished centre covers too..... more choices

This car being on here makes me really happy. So thankful some of us still keep history going. Fingers crossed i just get it to the point of being used again, I think once its back on the road she will be able to see a fair few more years service. Had a quick look at the brakes again, it stuck back on straight away. To be fair i only freed off the piston but i can see it being that, i think the caliper is binding in the carrier though. I will strip it off again and PROPERLY go over the whole thing and make sure its all free. Hopefully then it will be sorted.

yeah itll run that, i wouldnt say perfectly though, it could of ran better as a high comp 1.8 on carbs really needs a different ignition map to a low comp pushrod designed for boost. its just a very basic unit with retard for boost no rev limit on them though? most renault gearboxs will interchange with the correct flywheel fitted untill the newer 6 speed nissan shared stuff came along. i want to see if a 1.8 16v or 2.0 f4r will bolt up tp a 4 speed renault 12 box i have kicking around.......

Shame about that seat top, I guess it’s just split from heat at some point? Is it possible to fit a separate top piece that keeps the foam in place? I was tempted to hit it with some duct tape for now, theres a local place that do reupholstering that id like to visit, the pass side seat needs a little work too.

You can get a kit for colouring vinyl seats. That way you could have black seats to go with the door cards. i did a quick google last night and found some spray on vht paint that looked good in the videos, might take a look at that in the future

I haven't started digging yet, that's when I'm sure all the horror stories will show themselves......... if i get some time this eve ill take a look at the rear lights, I'm getting nothing back there at the moment, i will have to bust out the trusty 50p screwfix multimeter and do some checking. Fingers crossed its an easy fix as the rest has been (y)

On my Estafette I found that everything electrical worked with just a wiggle of the connections. And strangely everything unbolted really easy with no snapping bolts. This wasn't the case on my Cortina. What's the rust situation like. Hope it's just a few easily sorted frilly bits. same on my old dauphine, nothing needed any major cutting to remove just the correct sized spanner. rust wise from what i can tell so far ive got a small hole on the pass side floor pan by a jacking point and 2 or 3 holes in the sills. If they don't open up massively when i start working on them it should be a simple cut out and weld in a repair patch.
