Hi
I know we all have different ideas on what's retro or classic. I own a '91 Volvo 740 and I wish to insure it. Providers of classic policies do not recognise the car as a classic and the only insurers that will give me decent quotes I've never heard of and to be honest are still too expensive. Best I've had is £280.
I want the car on fully comp for 1000 miles a year (I doubt I'll even do that), social use only. I don't have any no claims to use as I have 2 other cars.
Can anyone who owns or has owned a similar car point me to an insurer that will insure it as classic or to an insurer that will give me a reasonable quote?
Thanks

At the risk of being a bit internety, this thread is full of win.
The Renault is coming along well, the ideas for the Rover are great as are the suggestions of the Integra or the Ballade front end.

Gorgeous Volvo I know its a bit silly but would you sell the telephone seperately Hi, sorry I'd rather keep it with car, I'm guessing it will leave unsightly holes behind.

Wow, that is really nice.
You'll have to put your location and price in the title.

For sale is my Volvo 740 2.0 GL Manual. I haven't had this long, bought it to use as a station car whilst waiting to complete on a house purchase. Now we are moved I have bought something else. I use it every week day and it always starts first time, it drives very well indeed. Pulls well, sits nicely on the open road. I can't fault the way it drives. It looks very clean, it's not without some dents or touch ups (in the wrong colour), but they don't detract from how clean the car looks. It's has MoT until 15th February 2017 and had no advisories. Points worth listing: Passenger front window doesn't work Speedo and mileometer do not work (Mileage is 99963 and has been since I got it!) Idle can be slightly erratic when cold, but the car never cuts out Carphone switches on but doesn't work No radio aerial Apart from the above everything else works, heated seats, drivers window, stereo. Interior is like new. It's a great car but it will just sit and won't be driven if I keep it. Shame to see it go. I am in Hoo in Rochester. £595 takes this bricky beauty away...
